Joints? These are just universal poly motor mounts from speedway motors. I picked up some 1.5" , 1/8" wall tubing, (1.25" ID).

I had to flatten the tubing some so fit between the bushing because they're narrow.

Mounts

also, the tabs are from there too. I just opened the holes up to 1/2"

Ya know if you had a lift I bet you could get a lot more done and not had to lay on your back, especially to do those tranny mounts!

A friend of mine was telling me he knew where I could scoop up a decent 280 for the cheap so I started poking around online at the current projects. I have an AL 5.3 sitting around that I have listed in the FS ads. I was thinking if I picked up that chassis my L33 would go in it but if it turns out to be a bust of a chassis I'll still be looking to get rid of it. I also have 799 heads

Finished crossmember.

Finished exhaust

All the fuel system stuff should be here tomorrow, so I'll start assembling that. Working on getting all the brake lines out of the engine bay and tucked away, and then I should be able to finish the inner fenders and engine bay.

Got this bad boy on last night. Turned out OK if you take into account I was using the edge of my bench top and a hammer to bend it! haha

Didn't weld on as pretty as I'd like - Kinda got in a hurry. It'll clean up and do the job though! Its amazingly more rigid than the pass. side.

Also got the hood bracket attached. Yay hoods.

Finished up my upper intercooler mount / beauty piece That a friend bent up.

Brake line simplification:

Line lock, proportioning valve, and bulkhead fittings to get the lines out of the engine bay.

Another angle. Still a few lines to make, but I'm waiting on my new close radius bender to show up.

Well this seems to be more of a photographic record of what I've done than a forum topic lol, but here's some more progress.

This is a fairly common chassis mod to an S30. Helps to distribute load from strut towers. I'm not a welder or a chassis engineer - I just look at pictures and do my best to replicate.

You should make a strut tower brace and firewall braces while your at it. It didn't take me very long and I'm sure it helps tremendously

I'm thinking that sounds like a good project for some other time. Lol.

I just want to drive this thing, and its sucking my wallet dry!

That would be an easy (ish) mod, but I dont really want to take the time to source parts at the moment......

Looks great! Im gonna have to steal that tran's mount design. Turned out pretty slick!

Not planning on drag racing it? Sure wish I would have done a full cage in mine when it was all apart. I'm too darn lazy to take it all apart again now! Out ran the 10.0 roll-bar requirement the first track visit. Can't imagine yours wouldn't as well.

Car is going to the cage builder in 2.5 weeks actually! Full 8.50 cert, with swing-outs.

If all works out, I should have it alive, but not moving. I'll be waiting on the driveshaft to get shortened.

I have 99% of everything to put it together, all I need is time.....

Gotcha... can't imagine it would need to be any more rigid or need more bracing with a full cage...
