Looks good man. I have to say though I still think that drop to 5th gear is really going to drag it down. Get the gear changed and its going to fly.

It does. Its brutal. There is just no true bolt-in options for this car that dont cost a million dollars, so I have to Fab up somthing this winter.

Its #1 on the to-do list!

Damn, that's looking like it is going to be a fine ride! Way too good for me to thrash on, I hope you can still have fun ripping up with it.

Thats my fear-I have never babied the car. Now, I feel like I kind of have to!

I think that would be my preference as I would like to road race the car next year as well

That looks great!! Still not sold on going Solid axle quite yet though although the weight loss would be nice...you did that yourself right?

Pretty much. Took a foxbody mustang, made a jig with all the mounting points from the factory 4 link setup. Than transferred it over to the rx7 using chromoly tubing and some beefy adjustable brackets. I have a good friend that does chassi work. Hooked it up big time! Also lucked out and bought a fully built moser rear with 35 spline spool, axles, 9" ends, brakes etc etc for $800

Next up-finalize the intake. Hopefully it is an improvement.

I would also like to get 340's in the tank so I can safely run 20+psi in 4th and 5th and see what I can get out of the 4.10 rear gear. If I take 4th to redline, its still falls quite flat on the shift to 5th, but I am sure the increased boost will help that issue.

Thanks guys!

So this weekend was the DSM shootout. If you guys have never been, make the trip! The Fastest GTRs and Mitsubishi powered vehicles in the country come out every year for this.

Car show and dyno day Friday

Race Saturday/Sunday. Unfortunately since the car is not a Mitsu or GTR, my run time was super limited to TnT

Here is how the runs went-all runs at 17-18psi

First run-good launch-car is shutting down every shift. Feel like fuel slosh, but I have 5 gallons in the tank? 10.8@128. Also noted wide band was DEAD. Great, guess I am not turning it up. :-[

Put 4 more gallons in and take it out for a test hit- problem is GONE. Must have been shosh!! Man I need a sump!

Second run-roll out 1st and hammer down-car is all over the place but running well. Not thinking, I short shift into 5th AGAIN, and I have ZERO psi (the car was actually violently surging between 0 and 5 psi) so I toss it in neutral and coast through the traps....to a 10.3@136. :banghead: That was my 9!!!!

Next pass, I let her have it off the line, and snapped the drivers side axle. As a reminder, this is an NA LSD, so I am shocked it lasted this long as is!!

Fixed the axle, and TnT was closed. They would not run it the rest of the night! Partied the rest of the night, and drove home.

I can say I have never been more disappointing to run a low 10 second pass in my life

Here are a few vids. the 10.8 slosh, and the 10.3 coasting through the traps in neutral. Sorry for the facebook link, I have asked the camera man to upload to youtube.
Facebook Post

I was so annoyed that I botched that run, I wanted to see what 20+psi was like on the street. The car goes lean on the dyno in the upper RPM's over 20psi and my wideband was dead, but I didn't care. Maybe it was my pride? Maybe it was all the pork and beans from the PR track crew? Maybe it was the Coronas? Who knows, but that LS1 was in trouble.

When I was within 10 miles of home, I pulled over and gave the MBC a few cranks, here goes nothing! Test hit spiked just past 20psi. Like it So I slowed down to test a 40 roll. 40 in 2nd was 100% useless-I just buried the limiter. Lets try 3rd, more of the same. So I decided to do a 4th gear roll on.

It spun so violently that the car almost came around me at 100+. I had to lift and use the next 2 lanes over to get it sorted out. Glad It was 5am! I did a 3-4th pull with my foot controlling boost and let her have it in 5th. ****. I wish I had the Vbox because that was ridiculous.

Noticed the car was getting warm on my exit, but there is NO one out, and a mile of Blacktop before my street. So, I did what every other hooligan would do and did a 1-2-3-4 rolling burnout. By the time I got home, coolant temp was pegged at 250+. I may have tweaked the HG, but Im not worried. It gives me an excuse to but a HG, studs, and springs in it so I can spin it to 6500 and hopefully alleviate my boost drop issue going into 5th.

What a night!

That poor little engine...

Probably cheaper/easier to pick up an ebay surge tank. Feed it with 1 intank 255. Then run dual 044's off the tank so you don't lean out.

That's the plan. Only question is if I will ever run E85, in which case I may want to get the factory tank our of the system all together. We will see.

Any NHRA rules about having the tank and pumps in the engine bay? The car will likely never fit in class that I will be "tech'd" into, but its good to know. I have a TON of room up front, so I planned to set things up there.

One of the top Media guys in the DSM community took great video of my junk at the shootout. I know I'm working to get the car down the track, but this looks rediculous lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNtP...ature=youtu.be

This shows just how bad the car was fuel sloshing the first few passes-and you can hear me shut it down up top on the 10.3 run.

Its all learning-but I've got a lot of work to do to actually use the power the car is making.

What kind of front tire are you running? Can't quite tell in the video.
