Default Turbo LS swap into 60s-early70s muscle car

hello people, really not sure where to post this. trying to make a decision, I am either going to do a nasty compound set up on my truck, or do an LS swap into a nova, falcon, galaxie, chevelle...something like that. I figure for the price im looking at to build a motor and trans for my truck, I could have a complete car. I would really like to do a turbo LS in one of those cars, but I guess I am looking for information on something like this, or the people who have done this. It would be a driver, not a track queen (well it would also be at the track, but a driver none the less). I would want to do twins, looking for information from people who have done this. I like the LS platform because they are quite strong, i know someone who is pushing about 700hp on a 180k 5.3 junkyard motor he got for 400 bucks. I like that aspect of it. I would run E85 as well, probably a TH400 and a ford 9" rear. I have not really looked into doing something like this, this is my first question or thought on it if you will, so no information is stupid information. Please shoot me some info!

John

I drive this thing almost every day.. I am thinking more and more about going to efi just for the mileage aspect vs the carb..
Its a 475/87/1.10.. Its a bastard motor kind of.. basically a bored 4.8 that's 302cid now.. that slip was the first ever run and higher boost than I am running now but last time I went to the track a coupe weeks ago it went 9.54@142 on 14psi.. its getting a bit better all the time.. My goal is a 8 second slip some day..
yes I am running a snow meth nozzle aslo coming in at 12psi..

That's really cool. I would like to break into the 9s with this which would probably mean that I would eventually want to get to the 8s like you. What is done chassis wise and cage? Small tire car?

yes its addicting.. I wanted low 10's for daily and 9's turned up.. when it went 9s the first time out the goals got changed lol..( I lowered the boost to 14psi which then it went 10'ohs, now its down to 9.5s at the same boost)
cage got certed to 8.50
tci front and rear 4 link with a 9" and 3.25 gears(spool)
turbo 400 with a 3600 stall and t brake
and yes running m/t 275 pro's and drive it all the time..

its great to drive.. I would drive it more if the mileage was better like it would be with efi but otherwise its just like driving a cammed small block around.. well until boost hits lol..
I have no issues with the spool.. takes a little more throttle to move while turning tight but that's really the only time you notice..
Im still working on the 60' but im getting it to do 1.47's now.. working on getting some better dual adjustables shocks to help that all out.. If I can get it to do a 1.38 60 it will go 8.9x... my goal..

thats good to hear. are you running 93 pump gas right now? how bad is the mileage? i mean, im not expecting a 25mpg vehicle, but if it could beat my truck that would be nice haha. i got a bunch of single adjustable 7" stroke pro coilover shocks for my short track car i would plan on using for a while until i figure out what i should actually do.

I bought a 69 chevelle to do just that. I'm parting my car out except the motor/trans/fuel system and putting it in there.

its hard to find a clean roller up here in minnesota that people dont want a million dollars for. i would really like to find a 67 nova. that has been the car i have liked since i can remember, but would do a number of cars really. 69 impala would be kinda cool, i dont know. so many choices.

I was thinking about the shoebox nova's as well. My dad had a 67 when I was a kid and had to sell it when we were on hard times. I didn't get it due to the fact that I want to twin turbo it and there's very limited room in there and the ol' fab skills aren't there for that. So I'll take a full size Chevelle engine bay!

haha, engine bay size is part of what i am looking for in a car. well, other than the 66-67 nova, if i find one of those ill make it work. a friend of mine has a 71 monte that could fit 2 LS motors crank to crank in it...soooo much room for activities in that car haha.

no Im running e85... way safer and a larger tuning window.
that's a cool cooler you built.. Mine was just a type 15 from frozen boost that fit were I could make it..
the earlier novas had no room either.. 66/67 are my favorite years and 65 chevelle is my absolute fav but I found this one and made it mine.. Im deeper in it than I would have like or even thought but its fun none the less..

The good think about your car is that you can get your money back without parting the car out. I'm going through it now with the fbody going to the chevelle. But the plan is to keep the chevelle. We'll see.
