Default What oil pump do you recommend?

Well since I am swapping the T chain and sprockets....

Would it be worth the money to switch from a stock oil pump to a high output aftermarket oil pump on a big HP Turbo build?

What are you running?

I bought the GM Perf pump from Brian Tooley. Because it was $90.
I took it apart and ported it as well.

I have just used stock GM pumps, ported them, and a small spacer on the spring
If using a double row chain, there used to be problems with aftermarket pumps and the front cover

+1 for Schumanns Pump....
really cannot go wrong with them.

I also went with a Moroso 7qt oil pan and pickup

I see 45 psi at Hot Idle, and over 100 psi by 4000 RPM rolling into WOT
its AWESOME
(high oil pressure does not hurt anything - Just be sure to use a good oil filter that will not collapse under pressure - I use WIX because they do not collapse until over 300 psi)

I always use a 02 GM style pump that we port in all our builds. Even in the race cars. No issue's.

As for 100psi. That seams extreme to me but looks like it works. I get about 70-80 on my race car at 7800rpm. Bearings look perfect on teardowns.

Just order one today from Schumanns. It was $279

He said it will come with the purple spring that will give me around 100 PSI cold... He said you definitely want to run a higher than stock capacity pan with this pump.. or it could cavitate..

He said they will include 2 other springs that would make even higher psi, but he said without a larger external filter the purple spring is the one to use...

He also said K&N oil filter or a WIX.. for my stock canister type

He said they could port it for $20 more but that requires you to Tig weld a 2 bolt flange onto the Pickup tube as the o-ring will no longer be used....

you dont have to TIG the piece for the schumanns pump... you can MIG weld it...
its definitely an option you want to do if you can mock it up properly to tack it before welding it

I actually had a junk block and crank here, so I just put my stock pump on it, and put on the pickup and welded it while it was on the junk block.

the ***** part... yes....
the oil pressure part...no

high oil pressure is not more trouble than its worth....
doesnt cause any issues as long as you use a good filter...use a Wix or a K&N that has been tested to over 300 psi and its not a problem...
other than that, there is nothing you can damage from having more oil pressure

At 100+ psi of oil pressure, doesn't that tend to push some seals? I guess if you get a oil leak, you GET A OIL LEAK! LOL

You tell me what seals are inside your motor to push out?

The pressure is only in the oil galley

Front and rear cover don't ever see pressure

There are no seals to push out of the engine from oil pressure
