Put a billet 80 on it and shoot for a thousand horsepow... wait, what?

Honestly though, it would be good to see injectors and pump upgrade to see how far you can push the turbo/motor combo.

Maybe the 210 injectors, add back in ONE 450 fuel pump to cover safety at the 660whp level. And then do the ported head comparison .....I am insanely curious about that.....

I see how there's a ton of input to try more mods and boost up the power, but I think there is way too many people overlooking the main idea on this build. It is a 2002 4.8 so it should have the small rods, correct? Really can't push it upwards of 500rwhp for a long time without risking it. Matt has proven that before. I myself am really looking forward to his cylinder head test results.

It's also pretty sad when you "accidently" put out 663hp!

The 4.8's shorter stroke makes them tougher than the other gen3 engines. A few have dyno'd 800-900whp with them. If you apply power later in the RPM range and actually rev it out to its happy place (without trying to kill it near PK TQ) then you can make well over 500whp with all the gen3 stuff. Esp. the 4.8's semi-reliably.

I'd love to see it revved a bit higher w/ good valve springs as it sits. Killing power in the pk tq range with the usual "baby soft" timing then ramping it back in.

Yeah, brain fart. I realized that after I reviewed my own post!

Did I miss a update somewhere? You mentioned having the ecm control the alternator, and how much better the voltage was after that? I am curious what you did, and where your voltage is at now?

Could you put the function of the loud valve in layman's terms.......sorry

Is it bleeding off excess back pressure /gasses Not needed once x amoumt of psi is reached??

Pretty interesting trying the bellmouth test-I just got Virens 83/75, thought about the 78/75 but hopefully this one will clear the hood.

it is a boost actuated exhaust cutout, after the turbo

giving you the easy option to run a quiet, restrictive exhaust, that has nice manners and then when you roll into the gas pedal it opens up allowing full power exhaust dump

best of both worlds

Matt, I see they also make a very similar device that is normally open, and is pulled shut by vacuum. Do you think something like that would provide any noticeable improvement in spool time since it would snap open when vacuum goes low, not needing boost to open it?

The downside would be that it would get loud more often since it wouldn't need actual boost to open it. Hmmm..

Should technically work on a turbo setup too though, right?

But I'm guessing you wouldn't prefer that option because it would be loud more often than you would want it to be, since it would open frequently when vaccum drops (and be open when starting the car)? And probably your setup spools plenty quick even with the loudvalve closed..

Or would there be a problem for the vacuum diaphragm from feeding it boost?

WTF?! Are you kidding me! That's almost 2 weeks from now! Going to feel like 2 years!!!!!!

BTW, thinking of adding another fuel pump, or other injectors? Any other remedy for the running out of fuel issue you had on the dyno?
