Cooling system seems happy.

Swapped brake master cylinder to smaller bore unit, just need to reconnect lines and bleed the system. should be done soon, then plan to drive it around some this weekend.

Jamie, the PNs in the link you shared, any chance I can find the same one but that uses 1/2 ends?

I tried using the adaptors, don't like the look of them, I think they will leak. I stripped out the master I have over tightening one of them, happened really fast.

Jamie thanks for chatting today.

So a few folks on FB asked me about the brakes, they all have 4 bleeders, and pretty sure they are all 4 piston might double check.

Since I boogered up the Raybestos master, I am thinking to buy a 1.0x master from Strange since they are local to me and their fit a 1/2 20 fitting... Plug and play. Too bad tomorow is Sunday but I can go Monday.

That will provide roughly 2/3 or 67% the pedal effort to create the same brake fluid pressure, assuming you have not changed the mechanical ratio of the pedal . Not quite as good as the 15/16" bore at 57% , just an FYI in case you don't want to do the math LOL. Not sure how much of difference you are looking for?

There's a few ways I could write that , just trying to keep it simple . The 15/16" example would be 57% of the pedal effort of the 1.25" bore to get the same fluid pressure and braking force . With that you would get an increase in pedal travel, but should still be firm once all travel in the calipers is stopped. Your previous mushy pedal with the 1.25 bore was most likely a bleeding problem as it should have had short travel and a firm pedal just not much fluid pressure and stopping ability ( caliper clamping force ) hope this helps

Gotcha, I think there was still air in there too, soft pedal. Though pumping it up did not help much. Based on what you are saying I'd rather run a smaller bore.

Since I fuxxed up the 24mm one I'm going to see if Strange has the 1.0x one in stock tomorrow and go pick it up.

Agreed, I think the smaller bore ( under 1" ) will be your best bet

Yeah Strange has a 1.0x bore one that uses 1/2 fittings, so it's a direct bolt on for my car.

Hitting a car show today really lit a fire under me. I spent the afternoon cleaning up wiring.

Yeah , the 1.032" is the size I used vs the 15/16 " / .9375 " in those calculations . Just saying you could get another one of those and a flaring tool for the same or less cost - something to think about

The Strange 1.0x would be a direct bolt-in to my lines, so I'm keen to get one. I'm just waiting for my buddy to confirm they have it in stock at Strange and I'll drive over.

Thanks, everyone is telling me to bench bleed the master, let me see if I have the right stuff to do that. I have a Mityvac MV8000 kit here maybe it has the stuff I need.

Definitely!! Bench bleeding is a must. Almost every master cyl I ever bought came with plastic fittings for bench bleeding, and I've kept a box full of them in case one doesn't. Maybe you can stop by a shop that someone else has done the same ? Take the master with you and see what threads in , either the recirculating type or plain plugs works ( plugs actually better i think) if you were anywhere near me I'd get them to you. If you have extra flare nuts the right size you could make plugs with short pieces of flared tubing bent shut at the back end and brazed shut

What size master did you get ? Grab a bleeder kit from Napa with the plastic fittings, they are cheap. Install the clear tubes and route them to the reservoir. You can clamp it in a vice or do it bolted up to the firewall. I remember now on my friends build we used the 5.1 fluid but haven’t tested it out yet. Motul fluid picked it up from Amazon.

I don't have any extra flare nuts, that stuff is hard to find around here.
