You might try the vaunted Lincoln Mark 8 fan. Just make sure your electrics are up to snuff.
Also, there are some very good PWM stand alone fan controllers around. DCC (Delta Circuit Controls) is one, plus a unit Carl Casanova (Vaporworx) just came out with. DCC actually helped design that one too.
All the Contour fans I've seen are twins. What year Contour is yours from?

Ah. The Taurus IS a single fan, and also widely regarded! The Mark 8 fan does pull a little more air, but not sure how much.
So knowing you have the Taurus fan, you COULD gain from the Mk 8 fan. The CFM numbers are out there, but I just don't have them now.
Edit- OK, got curious and did a few searches. The Mk 8 fan DOES pull a chunk more air, and has a shroud about 1-1/2" wider and almost 2" taller, plus about an inch thicker. It is a serious fan.

If I remember correctly, the 8 fan flows like 4500 cfm, I have both fans, the Taurus fan is a little thick, just noticed that cause I was trying to fit it in the Nova with the BBC, wont fit,

I'd be curious to know what it does if you put a stock T-stat back in it. My setup is pretty similar to yours. I have a dual pass aluminum radiator with single fan, forced induction and it's in a first gen. I have a cheap eBay 14" fan with unknown stats, stock 187 t-stat and I run between 190-200 in all conditions. I know it's hotter in FL than NY, but a few of the days I was driving around it was 85-90 in the last few weeks.

Yeah it's great to fix that problem.

I drove the car about 30 minutes, and feel very good about the brakes.

My next stop is to reduce operating cooling temps. Car is a little warmer than I was shooting for. I am going to turn my fan on at 180F (instead of the current 195) and raise up the fan some, maybe 1.5 to 1.75 inches.

I'm not running heat or ac, so no plan to run a stat. My gutted stat looks like this:

Did you make a custom shroud for the fan, got a link for the fan too?

My radiator is like this:

So it was noted that my fan / shroud is mounted 3 inches lower than the top. I was leaving room for the intake pipe. But based on reading I will move the fan up as much as possible.

Leave it alone man!!! If you don't have adequate temp in the coolant system your oil won't heat up and burn off the containments in the oil from the e85.

If it isn't overheating I would just leave it alone.

I'll have to dig up some pictures of my setup, but yes I have a custom shroud that came with the radiator. Here's a link to mine. https://www.autocityclassic.com/inde...t_version=true

I say though that my shroud looks different than the one they have in the picture.

I'd be curious to see a pic of your shroud. My core is 20.5 wide. In hindsight I should have gone with a wider radiator but it didn't occur to me back then. Now my WGs are taking up the space on each side. So I'd like this stuff work otherwise I'm looking at lots of fabwork to move stuff around.

Well it was getting to 214 when I was back and forth parking the car in my garage.

So I've got my fan mounted 3" lower than the top of the car, and my radiator is a dual pass, this kind:

So my buddy pointed out that if anything I'd want my fan mounted at the top. That said my intake pipe makes that impossible. Right now my fan is mounted 3.0 below. I can move it 1.5-1.75 up, and that's the plan, and lower the fan ON to 180 to see what happens.

It looks like that top 90 hose end is not seated in the socket all the way ?

if you shroud the upper part of the rad does the problem go away?

problem with not shrouding the entire rad is that the fan can suck hot engine air thru the rad. shroud forces it to suck in outside air.

Here you go John. My shroud is set up for a 16" fan, but I had this 14" on my shelf so I made an adapter to make it work. Mine does a good job even with the small 14" fan. eBay says that they are rated for 1730 CFM, but I doubt that to be a true number.

John,

With your radiator size, I would look at the C7 Corvette fan.

Could I wire it the way I have the Taurus/Contour fan wired up? Looks like this?

I bet that would help. I can move my fan from being 3" low to maybe 1.5 to 1.25 low that alone might make a small difference. And turning fan on at 180F might help too. That's the weekend plan.

Nice. I'm impressed the 14" gets it done. Did you make that shroud?
