August 30 ill be taking the truck to no problem raceway here in Louisiana, there having a big even and my buddy is one of the sponsors and several people who use my tuner will be there as well because my tuner is going. Ill finally be able to find out what the truck runs. Ive been joy riding it here and there, I've changed the oil once since the new motor but ill probably change it again right before I go.

What do you expect weather wise on that date? Recently ran my truck at track day here and temp was about 90° DA at 3000ft vs the 750ft level of the track. Could only manage 10.90 vs the best of 10.76 . There was also a headwind of maybe 10-15 mph which the truck doesn't like much . Hoping to get out in 70° weather this fall and maybe get a 10.5 or .6. If you're out in hot humid weather ( which you probably are all the time ) you're going to gain a few 10ths going to better conditions. Waiting on results - it's going to fly !!

Awesome news! If I could keep my Firebird from continually breaking, I might have a better number than my initial outing ( 11.23@132 ). I'd like to run a 10.9 by the end of the season, at least. What kind of numbers will you be happy with for your first time out?

weather conditions are definitely not going to be in my favor. I'd imagine 90-100 degrees and humid as hell, and the track is about 42 feet above sea level so that may help me some. Im hoping to at least go 10.50, if i ran 11.0 with no transbrake and a hurt motor then I dont see why I cant get that at least.

your 60 foot must be horrible because that mph should definitely be in the 10's, and i definitely know how it feels. This is first time in a along time that I've been able to go in the driveway and be able to crank it up and go anywhere in it without knowing something isn't right and 10's have always been the goal.

Yeah, a 1.82 60' on that run. I've played a bit with shock adjustments and while I had other problems that prevented me from making a full pass, on Friday I did some testing and was able to get my 60's into the 1.7X range. I did make one low boost (12.5 PSI) pass and ran 11.72@124, so it's got a lot more in it. Only had 17 degrees of timing in it then, too. You're bound to run 10.50's with that thing, I would suspect a little quicker once you have it dialed in.

do you have a transbrake or you foot braking? When I ran 11.0 on the foot brake i was only building 3psi and now im bulding 12.5 on the brake so id imagine thats going to make a nice difference.

nothing wrong with that, I had a turbo honda civic years ago that was a 5 speed manual and that's an entirely different experience. Makes your understand the concept of torque vs rpm.

Just took the truck on an hour joy ride around my town just putting some miles on it, its 93 degrees outside so its hot as hell. Temperatures all looked good, ac blew ice cold so all in all truck is doing good. I did notice theres about a 10 mph difference between my stock tachometer and holley tachometer and im pretty sure its the holley thats off. Thats a simple fix though, ill play around with that and get it to read accurately.

Dash says 46, didnt mean to say tachometer. Meant speedometer
Holley says 56, i think holley is wrong because i was on a road that the speed limit is 45 mph and i was going pretty even with the rest of the cars, plus i definitely didnt feel like 56.

Just pull up a speed app on your phone. At a steady speed, gps mph is accurate. Then you can easily see which reading (or both) is incorrect.

holley is wrong but the thing is i have the gear ratio and tire size correct. Do I lie to holley to make it read correctly?
i actually just did the app thing and went around the block, holley is wrong.

I would suspect so, but there are quite a few people here far more familiar with the Holley, so hopefully they will chime in.

I had the tires set at 28, i dropped it down to 27 and ill give that a try. If i doesnt help ill get with my tuner i suppose and see if i can get him to remote tune it to correct. Im just wanting to learn these things myself so im more familiar with holley.

The only Holley I have even touched in 20 years is my neighbor's Dominator, and that was on a manual transmission, so I don't know if fudging the numbers somewhere may give unintended consequences regarding your shift tables.

Are you getting speed through a wheel speed sensor? I had trouble getting mine to read correctly as well. You just have to play around with the numbers until it matches. I think averaging the pulses played a role in getting it to read correctly for me, but it's been awhile since I set it up.

through the vss on the transmission and thats what my tuner told me. Im going to play around with it today and see if i can get it to read accurately.
