I'm really hoping to make that tune appointment this weekend, I'm gonna change the plugs again tomorrow just in case. I have them gapped at 25 but was thinking close the gap a little and hopefully get this sputter out with the tune, if it doesn't over heat that is

I'll leave the gap at 25 then, if anything I'll have a spare set while it's being tuned if need be and I'll definitely consider drilling the hole. Only thing is if its not over heating anymore i might not want to mess with it

I agree if it's working now , leave it , tune it and drill a hole another time when you have time or coolant has been drained for any reason. Good luck

The hole in the stat is because in some instances you can get an air pocket on the back side of the thermostat. It'll keep the stay from opening regardless of what happens. The small hole allows the air to bleed through the hole and let the thermostat see the temperature so it can open. Curious how it goes when you fill it back up and swap the cap. If it still overheats its worth doing a pressure test on the cooling system.

or check if you can feel a fast pressure buil up i the upper rad hose, after starting the car cold and reving engine a bit. squeeze hose, rad full, cap on. i woulndt rely on it.

that's interesting, about what size bit do you usually drill the hole with? I'll update you this afternoon when I get home from work. I have to pick up some coolant then I'll give it a try. It did seem like air though after I messed with it for a while tho so I'm hopeful of that.

If you are running heat I think you'd want a thermostat. I wouldn't be shy about drilling more than one hole to help the system bleed, I think my buddies been drilling 4-5.

most definitely run heat, I drive this truck on the street pretty often. Well I did b4 I started this nightmare of a turbo setup. Hopefully I'm finally getting it together

I pulled the plugs yesterday, they weren't perfect but none if them looked bad enough to cause a hesitation. #4 was probably the worse. I also read some interesting articles on hp tuners last night with guys having similar problems and alot of them were tuning issues, Saturday we will get it hooked up to hp tuners and I'm curious to see if it's tune related or I possibly have a bad coil or something in the nature
