Default Turbocharged Big Block

Anybody got a turbocharged big block. Not a 427 small block but an actual big block with a turbocharger. Thinking about how feasible and costly it would be to get a 1973-1974 corvette and put in a larger than 454 big block with a turbocharger, and new rear end, trans and converter. I'm not too worried about looks, just want lots of power and still have lots of drivability. Also, trying to avoid any smog equipment since I live in California.

silver02, i don't have info for the turbo'd big block but i wanted to ask you about the AFR 205 heads you have, are these heads CNC'd by AFR and assembled by them? it seems you are low on power for your mods. one of ls1tech posts i saw they got 503 rwhp from the AFR 205 heads on a 346 LS1. i'm doing AFR 205 heads but i'm buying them bare from AFR and they will be completly hand ported by race-prep and also a custom cam matched to the heads from them as well. i hope i do 485 to 500 rwhp with these 205 AFR's.

You may have seen this already, but its good stuff:

Its not a BB, but it is a C3 Vette.

Just remember, there is nothing inherentyl different about a BB. It will respond to boost as well as any other engine.

and some creativity w/ piping or a larger engine bay.

I wouldn't put turbo, big block and driveability in the same sentence. If you have to pass emissions too...ouch.

The whole reason for putting on the turbo would be because it should have much better drivability than a high powered NA setup especially when your not into the throttle because it's got a much different cam setup.

Also, if the car is a 1973 there's no worry about smog because it's exempt and also they did come with big blocks that year.

Local guy here has a '64 Impala with a 585" BBC and a pair of T72's. It idles like butter, it has a hydro roller, and it is retardly fast. IIRC he said 570 RWHP and 650+ torque on motor, and over 1000 RWHP on 14 pounds of boost.

W/ A 585 BBC the 570/650'S probably. at 5# OF BOOST, that’s very street friendly if you ask me. Would 2 t66's work w/ a bbc 437ci? or to small.
Now that I have the 02 TT SS done, I need to do my 71rs-z! Turbo's are so much FUN, and now my mouse motor can **** on my rat motor, I just cant have that. Also my 02 is power maxed out until I upgrade every thing else, my rs-z is set to go, It can handle the 1000rw as it sits, just need to lower the compression, go fuel injection and add twin booster's.
