Default welding beads around intercooler piping / tb

Ok, so my intercooler has beads welded around where the silicone adapters clamp on, how many of you guys are welding beads around all your intercooler piping? Or is just clamping it enough?

I plan to see around 22-24psi on race fuel, and im starting fabrication of the intercooler piping this thursday.

bead roll, or weld a lip.

Or you'll be popping hoses off

Sweet, that settles it then. I won't be popping them off just yet anyway, need a little more of a fuel system before I can crank the boost up.

a turbo regal trick to make sure things stay put....

Get some hair spray. Something like Aqua Net, good old fashion Mall Bang glue straight outta New Jersey Spray some on the pipes in question, slide the silicone couplers over while it's still wet.

You'll be prying them apart

hairspray usauly holds for quite a while. but definatly use t-bolt clamps as well.

if you have problems after welding a bead, using tbolts, and hairspray then weld a plate and bolt a bar to the pipes, some big pressure (40psi+) guys do that

if you can get your hands on a bead roller, they make REALLY nice looking beads.

A weld works but its tough to beat a roller

If your using 3 1/2 or 4" tubing we make v-band clamp assemblies that will never blow apart or leak. WE have run them above 40 lbs.

That's what I did. Silicone connectors, t-bolt clamps, beads on the end of the pipes and pressure tabs on each end of pressure side pipes. Figured it was a good idea to do it now rather than pulling piping back out and doing it down the road. If I still blow charge pipes, I give up.

I went out and bought a small bead roller since I'll be doing several more single/twin setups this year.

I can buy the vband stuff here local except aluminum - which I would need for the intercooler and throttle body / turbo outlet.

Plenty of people use silicone, I don't see myself having any problems at all. And if I do, I can get some more vbands then. I will have beads and tclamps to start with though.

We make a aluminum weld on end for high clampload/boost tubing. They are available from 2-4 inch in 1/2 jumps. They sell from 14 to 17 dollars each.

Yes you can use bead and welded lips and it will work. But they will have problems at some time. Plus the V-band Clamp assemblies also make between round maintenience alot faster and simpler. Everything comes apart and goes back together very quickly and easily. We use the v-band directly on the turbos, intercooler and throttle bodies.

I changed my sig up some. Rick Head is also using our sway bar on his car.
