But when you run, alky and meth, these are nice injections because of their vapor point. When these liquids turn to vapor they cause dramatic temp drops in the intake charge.

If you are using a Turbo and have a mishap like this person did in boost, if the snow device had a problem adding meth to the situation could be explosive.

Water is much safer and does the exact same thing, which is lower the intake temp. You would not want to use tap water, but distilled water.
So you're saying if you run methanol (anything other then water as you put it) you have to add fuel to compensate? what are you talking about? You inject methanol to cool the charge as you said but it also happens to work as a fuel as well. Cooling the intake charge is NOT the whole point for meth.

If you truly think water behaves the same way as Meth on its way to and inside the combustion chamber then you need to go back to the drawing board. Your post is all over the place and short on supporting facts to backup the very strong statements you make.

And one last thing... if the snow kit failed to operate during overboost, would it really matter if it was injecting water or meth? I don't see what your point is, the motor would probably be toast either way.

there wasnt any kind of dangerous mishap.. there could have been if my e-boost didnt catch me boosting more than i told it i wanted to.

i do now wonder what it would have looked like at 5700rpm or so since it was 907 horse at 4700
What heads and gaskets are you running on the beast now? Oh btw that is unreal power, congrats, Dave.

In my opinion yes it would matter. If the water droplets were too big because the air pump behind the jets didnt put out enough psi, with 20 psi of boost, it would not be a big deal, but if the meth drops were bigger, you could grenade the engine. The engines that we are building are not funny cars, and would not take that abuse.

Meth and Alky are not cooling the intake charge because of their liquid state. It is when they turn to a gas state that cools the charge. It is the chemical reaction of turning from a liquid to a gas that cools the air stream.

Meth and alky are different that water as both will burn much hotter than gas, and meth more than alky. When water like the others turns to a gas state, it cools, thus cooling the incoming air and it is safer than the meth or alky. I misposted earlier about adding fuel to meth and alky, I was talking about NOS.

Does this help

LOL Dave you are making twice the power you made with your original TTi street kit. That is just crazy....but i'd do it too if I could You always talk about the excitement of driving the 6 speed. At that power level, I don't think you have the ***** to drive an automatic. That car might be in the 8s with an auto!!! Now THAT would be some excitement!!! Imagine getting on ls1.com 4 years ago and saying "I am gonna make 900rwhp and use it as a daily driver".....we'd have you committed. Congrats dude...I am jealous!!! Asses like you keep making us sub-700 rwhp guys look like ricers

If your asking me, my goal is 1100RWHP still on pump.

I replaced the F1 blower to the F1-R still 3.85 pulley,
replaced the intercooler with a bigger one.
installed a prototype coil on cylinder ignition system for more boost later
replaced the headers with stepped 1 7/8 to a 2" to a 3 1/2 collector new bigger cats from kooks
above is completed and I am tuning
This should get me to 900RWHP from my current 822RWHP

Next step is water injection with more boost, but hopefully no more than 20psi
currently at 16psi with the F1.
That should get me to 1000RWHP

last step is new prototype heads, new casting better designed ports.
new oliver rods and je pistions dropping the compression from 10:1 to 9.3:1
Boost should come down as heads are more efficient, and power should be at 1100RWHP.

the methanol.. i probably used $1 worth on the 4 pulls i did total. it only runs when i'm above 5# boost. i think its very street since its the main component in windsheild washer fluid and i have it in my windsheild washer tank. i probably run a gallon through it every other week.. an extra $5 isnt too much to ask I dont think. *edit* i have a low level sensor installed in the tank so i know when its close to running out via red led.

i was telling the guys there i was just planning on getting the tune secure... and it was fine w/ my street tuning so i bumped it up to the next set point.. which was not what i thought i set it at.

i'm in richmond va.

intmd8.. does your volt booster hold over 15v for the entire time? either my alternator cant handle it or i have another issue

i'll find out how fast it will be next sat.
thanks for the info, that actually sounds like cheap insurance to me, if I have questions down the road can I pm you? Thanks again

ps...what clutch setup do you have thats holding that?

Nope that is incorrect. You are looking at 50+hp in the bottom 9s to go a tenth quicker depending on how well you have the rest of the car setup.

It's a whole different world when you are going that fast

Bryan no offense but MM has already been 9s@144mph with a lot less power than he is running now...

You have a TON of work to do 1/4 wise before you can talk smack LOL!

MM what sort of trap speed are you expecting to hit? 160?

i'd like 1krwhp if this turbo will get me there

jerry.. i know right.. 600rw is my goal with this car.

i inject the meth at over 200psi.. it does not intermittently fail.. if it ever did the green light would go out and i would notice it. there is a slight risk sure.. just like a risk of bad gas from the station.

my heads are stage 2 from are, probably do for an upgrade.... gasets are stock 6.0 and i have stock replacement arp studs.

i run a spec s4i solid hub.

thanks again everybody.. going away for business for the week i'll be at mir this saturday

Dave, really nice work man. That is simply incredible!

Have you looked into the alky control kits, they are MAP referenced and ramp up the alky based on psi...another safety net for overboosting.

Very impressive numbers with meth. I'll be even more impressed when he logs like 20 passes with meth without problems, then I might try it.

Chris
I have not talked any smack to anyone, I just made a comment regarding the use of meth. He made a perfect example of how a turbo can go wacky. I believe all of the nice little comments I made were to pure_evl. I commend MM on his accomplishments and I have absolutely nothing negative to say about him, or his project.

The part that I really dont get, is I could care less if the car ever runs in a quarter mile. You and everyone else should know that with the right tires, and suspension setup, the car would run low 9's. I thought I was pretty clear I was going after top speed.
