Default What Magnuson kit is in Super Chevy? (05/05)

There is a Magnuson MP112 sitting on top of a LS1 in the "Chop, Cut, Rebuild" article of the tech section.

It isn't the standard LS1 C5/GTO kit as it looks to have a massive intercooler underneath it. It sits a good 3-4in higher than the other kits. Anyone have a clue. I checked both Magnuson's and Magnacharger sites but nothing. Interested because the current GTO maggie has some serious heatsoak issues with the small IC core. I love teh roots but not the heat.

I will scan and post some pics later....

I'd cut my GTO hood 'old school' for one of them high rise maggies

I haven't seen the article, but it sounds like their street rod kit. If you have the hood room, the intake manifold and bigger intercooler will make much more power for you. Maybe Nineball will chime in, he has some experience with a similar setup

Guru can you post the pic and report about the blower??

Guess as said earlier its the hot rod kit that nine ball is using too.

Mr HP whats the size of ya blower that you are working on?

Who is selling a Magnuson intake ?Just the Intake or a "wrecked" (blower bad) set up?

I am thinking it is the supercharger from the "retro blessing" kit.

It is at least the same height.

Although it sits a little more forward like the vette kit.

Pics tomorrow....the mag is at work.

The blower is for SURE NOT a Vette version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Blower snout/TB mount is in the "4°Clock position on a Vette Mag Kit!
The Vette Blower is sitting far more to the front (acc drive)!

I am a bit confused cause i did hunt this topic for a while now and this pic shows two water ports in the front of the blower?????
Looking at several pics on my HD i can only find IC water ports in the rear of the blower!

This is a GTO kit pic or the talked new kit(in works) which was already in a older PHR MAG! Check the attached pic!

checked the magnousen page again :
http://www.magnusonproducts.com/imag...blessing04.jpg

looks like they did a special just for the retro blessing!!!!!!!!!!

They might sell kits good with the Vette/GTo guys but they are skipping the FBody market!
Poor real infos about the different versions and very poor press reports from them......!
AGAIN : Can someone post a link for a magnousen lower and upper intake that is for sale?????

LS1 Hybrid, mine is a 112 non-ic corvette unit. I had to do some mods, and make some parts, but overall not too big of a deal.

I don't know of any manifolds available, I would suggest watching ebay. I don't know if Magnuson would sell just the manifold, sounds like you may have already tried.

are you trying to put one in an f-body, or something else? I have pics of my setup, PM me your email if interested.

HP i was at the German Tuner Bash meeting!
Saw the AMG Blower and some swedish hardcores with a Lysholm and had to laugh about the Magna......!
The idea is very simple :
mag lower + upper manifold + IC + FMIC and put something real (blower:Lysholm or ???) on top of that!

Car is a third gen Camaro and i dont care how high the hood is!
Had a Tunnelram with big MRG 3 throttelblade aircatcher engine was in there before ...limited view thru the windshield is well know to me!

The "Other" blowers (ati+co ) ???? well the power ones start as a F1 or F1R the others are like all magnas in the 500 550RWHP zone.....!
Check the pricing and see what space they need -----------ouch!
The whole radiator and cooling sys on our "magna" hybrid is diff we need the space where the ati and turbo guys pack there stuff to get a ice cold magna..lol!

Below a old threat i always like to post when it comes to the magna against the "others":

Tryed to gather some Eaton/Magna infos and this came up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Funny things pop up when you press the search button and dont need a Industrie kit to make a M112 run!

Sorry to blow bubbles ...this looks more than the S&P stuff!
The magna on that engine could be a GTO unit ????
Its just not a Vette cause as said up above the Vette TB is angled at 4°clock on a vette magna kit!

the Whole set up looks like a HotRod hybrid set up for cars with engine space!

Can someone guide me to a blown up /wrecked magna set up?
I checked ebay nothing!

Hijack much???

Anyway, definately not a GTO unit. GTO's IC core's are smaller than the vettes.

Maybe I'll call manguson.....

I wonder if that's an SSR or CTSV kit? they are both slightly different than the GTO, but have the same "down and back" design

Here's a link with some pics:

SSR:

These are costing like 5,000 right? I could put together a great turbo system for that, and it would blow that blower away. I would buy one of these SC's for like 3k.

Six of one, half a dozen of another.

I could throw together a directport nitrous sys for 2k that'd smoke em all. That's not the point.

These eatons make MASSIVE low end torque. The reg GTO kit is throwing down 400ft/lbs+ at 2200rpms. Talk about drivability. These cars weigh nearly 4,000lbs and need all the torque they can get for daily driving. Add heads and blower cam and it's the perfect street machine. 450+ tq down real low, 550+hp up top.

Plus a polished eaton sticking out of the hood would look bitchin'

That is a hot rod system. Each one is custom.
