Default Venting wastegate to atmosphere?

So I have heard all the positives to venting the wastegate (boost control, no exhaust back pressure, no creep...) but what are the potential downfalls? How loud are vented wastegates with a couple feet of pipe running off them?

Very loud compared to a wastegate dumping back into the downpipe/exhaust and can make things dirty if it isn't dumping down and away from everything.

Get it dumped into the exhaust. Its fun at first but gets real old fast when you have it dumping in the atmosphere.

Yea, It's REALLY loud. I had an open wastgate on my 4 cyl. I can only imgaine how loud it would be for you. I agree w/ Hellraiser, dump it back into the exhaust.

Mine dumps stright to the atmostphere and I love the jet turbine sound. When I took it to dyno It was really loud in the shop and in tunnels it scares the **** out of people.

My twin tials are not that loud, you can tell they open but its not bad. I have a 2ft downpipe off each turbo too so its already really loud

If you were to run a closed cutout after the downpipe into a quiet catback. Would you be able to hear the motor through the wastegate or it it pretty much just the "jet" sound?

Some people have run motorcycle resonators on their dumps. Haven't personally done any like that but most customers like the open dump over running into the exhaust.
