Question Upgrading to Vortech T-trim

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Vortech T-Trim and the RMCR bracket assembly to replace the G-Trim I have now. I managed to crank out two 10.78 runs on that blower with 8-9PSI and 93 octane. Any idea what I can expect with the new head unit and 15PSI with race fuel?

I'd say you've got a shot at nines. Why didn't you go with a YSi? It fits in the same bracket with modification.

Well, I can cancel the order as long as they haven't shipped it yet. Can you elaborate more on this? Just have them send a YSi instead of the T-trim? Can RMCR make the modifications in their own bracket, or is this something I have to do. I'd like to fit the biggest head unit I can squeeze in there, I was under the impression that the YSi wouldn't fit.

yes..the YSI will fit under the hood with the same bracket with a little modification.

the owner himself is running a YSI with the same bracket.

Just call and tell mark/mike to make the modification to the bracket if they already havent shipped it

Very good info. Me likes.
They are actually closed until next Monday, so I know the order has not gone through yet.
Thanks a bunch! I hope don't crack the block!

They told me that I could send my bracket back and for $200 they would modify it for the YSi. They were also working on a new inlet tube that was 4" instead of the 3 1/2" (YSi-4" inlet). And last they were designing an aluminum air filter box that has the inlet tube connect into the corner like the Specatacle Solutions lid. They said you have to relocate the #1 coil down further to clear the 4' tube. Are you staying with the aftercooler or doing something else? Good luck to you, if you could wring 10.78 out of a g-trim I'd like to see what you'll do with the T or Ysi.

Very good info. Thanx. I'm going to call Vortech today. I want to know if the YSI trim is efficient if I'm only running 12PSI most of the time. I mean, clearly that blower is designed to crank out a lot more boost. I'm not sure if its worth the $$$ if I'm only running a 347ci motor and a maximum of 15PSI. There are cars running low 8's with that unit. I'm only trying to dip into the high 9's.
I may take the car to the track this Friday to see if I can get another tenth or two out the G-trim. When we dynoed it last week, it picked up another 40hp with my new camshaft, but I lost 2PSI of boost.

I'd be happy with a 9.99. Anything quicker would be a bonus.
In that case is it worth going all the way up to the YSI, or just stick to the current plan with the T-trim.
By the way, do you have a website or something with more details on your setup with pictures?

www.psj.ls1tech.com

T-Trim will easily go in the 9's.

My blower would go high 9's on pump gas at probably low boost.

A trim can make 700 rear wheel on 12-13 lbs of boost with the right head and cam combo.

A bonus with the YSi is it'll take less boost to make the same power. The aftercooler isn't rated to handle the amount of cfms the bigger blowers have.

crunch if you can pm the specs on your motor i'd like to compare it to my combo. looks like judging by your mph that you are making approx 550ish to the wheel

I have some old pics of Stealth's YS setup, I don't recall if his motor was dropped 1-2 inches with a modified k-member...

Thanks so much guys. I'll keep you posted. We'll see if I can't be part of the 9 second club (or close to it) before the year's out.
