Default Please help me pick a pair of turbochargers....

I'm going to build my own twin-turbo system for my truck and have nailed down pretty much EVERYTHING except for the turbochargers themselves.....I could REALLY use some help in deciding what is a "correct" pair of turbos.

Here are my requirements.....truck specs are in sig:

* ZERO lag....it's a 5600lb TRUCK
* 500-550 RWHP (fgure 23% loss through the 4wd drivetrain)
* Max engine speed: 6000rpm

Here's what I've picked out for parts so far:
* Ported #317 heads (current CR is 10.1:1...head swap will net 9.4:1)
* 60lb/hr injectors
* twin FMIC's (brand and config TBD)
* custom build mild steel log manifolds (turbos are to be low-mounted APS style)
* Methanol injection system (brand and config TBD)

I'm fairly new at FI so I'd REALLY like some help in figuring out what turbos are "correct" for this setup....I'm only going to be able to buy 1 set of turbos, if they're wrong I'm gonna have to live with it for quite a while until the finances let me do otherwise....so PLEASE help me pick the right ones the first time !!!

So you're utilizing a 6.0L and 317 heads... Honestly you could get that HP with a single which would be much more simple and economical but I'm all about a set of twins if that's what ya want! I'm also running a 6.0L and 317 heads on the new setup from GMR. We used Precision T-61S turbos with .69 A/R. Suprisingly, they spooled up much quicker than anticipated and the guys at GMR are having to detune as a result. They haven't released the #s but I can tell you this; there is rapid tq/hp gain after 1800rpms..that's on a dyno. It would probably be even quicker on your heavy truck due to the added load on the engine. LOL for 550hp you'd probably only be running 4-5lbs! ...The guys already posted 623rwtq @ 3600rpm 9lbs!

Whoa.....

That's CRAZY !!!

I've looked into a single but I'm stubborn and kinda thick-headed and the concept of a twin-turbo 4wd ECSB 3/4 ton pickup truck just appeals to me for some reason

Thanks !!!

A pair of T3/T4's is your best bet if your stuck with twins and want stump pulling torque down low. For a single the 61 is good indeed as well as a GT35R.

I have a set of T3/T40E .57 Trim turbo's (.60 A/R compressor and .63 A/R Turbine) that I WAS going to use but have been told will spool WAAAAAY too fast and will result in serious overboost problems....can I get away with using these ???

I still want to pull to 5700-6000rpm without choking the turbos.....If I can get away with this with the turbos I have I'm good to go

That would be 57 trim then. Which is ~56mm wheel. IT will work ok for your setup.

For a low boost application, no.

10psi max is my goal....this truck HAS to function 100% of the time so I'm not trying to go bleeding edge

Will those turbos support my goal of 500rwhp ???
