I bought my block for $350 and will be buying rods for about $650 and pistons for $600. Stock crank for $100 used. My block is already 4.040 so it will be a 370 with a stock crank. I am not sure what rods and pistons I will get yet though.
Also I am going with about 8.5cr. I am trying for 900rwhp on race fuel.

I think that there should be a sticky for this forum on engine size and internals used... cause there have been alot of threads... especially from new guys that ask the same questions.. I used search before I posted up..

with 6.0 block
eagle 6.125" connecting rods
diamond dished pistons 4.030" Bore
6.0 heads 72cc
that would give 8.5ish cr
will handle more psi!

My list

6.0 block and crank $500
Eagle SBC 6.125 rods $270
Used Diamond -15cc pistons $200
02 Z06 cam $50
Machining and Bearings $750
Total seal rings $300

Those are the main parts. Last time I totaled up my motor I think everything including the heads/valvetrain ended up costing me around $2800 (thats including gaskets, new oil pump, arp head studs, etc).

I am planning 6.0 iron block also. With callies or lunati stroker crank, callies, lunati, maybe manley or crower rods and think diamond or wiseco pistons probably.
But for budget the 6.0 with stock crank seems fine too. And really don't think I need a 402 or 408 with twin turbos but overkill is kinda fun sometimes!

Working on our 1K project, it is using an eagle 4" crank, Custom made Wiseco pistons fully coated with tool steel wrist pins and "hella thick" ring lands!
