Default New Project 408 and GT 42 76 Turbo Rear Mount

Well guys what kind of HP do you think I can get out of this setup ?

Here is what I have so far,,,2000 C5Corvette,Auto Built by Rodney 373 Rear And Hardened Output Shafts 408 Stroker iorn block ETP 255 Heads 72cc all the best internals fully coated pistons
Custom Fuel System,, 96 lb Injectors with converter ,HPTuner 3 Bar Tuning

you WILL run out of turbo, it's way to small. Especially for a 408.

It will be fine as a rearmount. Frontmount efficiency is not the same when its a rearmount. If you are shooting for 800hp like you stated in the other post, I think you'll get there.

Right Right.....

Harlan knows because he's Talking about my car.....

38 cubic inches less then your 408 with the T6 Flanged GT42-76.....
We were out of steam by 14 psi..... way to much back pressure... so much we were getting valvefloat like crazy......
Swapped to the S88 and went 8mph faster in the 1/4 mile and almost .7 tenths quicker with 1 psi less boost..... now if that doesnt tell ya nothing will

Sounds like a fun build. I'd listen to the turbo gurus posting, they can save you some wasted time.

nothing to do with efficiency, all about flow at that point.

And Kyle's not exactly right, the backpressure wasn't that bad. About 2:1, reasonable but not ideal. A larger motor will just make it worse, no matter where the thing is.

It was just out of compressor.

It may just be a tradeoff then between limiting the HP with a smaller turbo and having a half decent spool. Its up to the poster to decide what the car will be used for and how lazy he wants to make it.

Theres nothing lazy about my 88mm turbo on my 370...... he's limiting his self alot by going with that turbo...from the look of it it see's the track quite a bit.....

Hey John
I wish I would have listened to guys last year when I was having my car tuned, I can't say the name here it is a bad word here
how ever if you look back at my past post you will see how, his tuned sucked azz
Anyway We went with this turbo because of spool time, I didn't feel that the T88 would have worked as well on the rear mount, now on my corvette the 88 works great with 0 spool time.
So you guy don't thing we will get close to 800hp ?
I might need to rethink what I'm doing here

So what Turbo do you guys think I should go with ?

Thanks guys
Dave

GT55-91 is your friend Dave. If you are really worried about spool then bring in your other friend named nitrous..

just to give you an idea regarding spool, i start boosting around 3100-3200 and have full boost by 3800 rpm. you could probably put more timing in there and lower the psi a bit to help spool.
