Default Boost ??

I have a 2005 GTO with an STS kit installed. It has a GT67 turbo with the STS intercooler and it also has a Devil's Own Meth kit as well. So far that car has shown just a hair over 500rwhp(with a poor tune). It made 7lbs on the dyno, and shows 9lbs on the street.

The car now has a 2 bar SD tune and runs seemingly safe on the street (A/F 11.5-10.9). What I want to do, is turn the boost up to about 11lbs. I just don't know if the motor will live okay. Anybody have any experience boosting an LS2?

Thanks in advance

Tony

from what I understand LS2's are better at handling boost than the ls1 and there are several guys pushing over 11psi on a stock block ls1. I think youll be fine with a good tune and you should put down some good numbers.

Thanks for the reply. Any others have any experience/opinions? I am really wanting to try this, but fear wrecking my engine. I may let this pass for a while until I have $$$ to fix it if it turns out like this one:

You should be fine, especially with meth. Just fix that tune.

im putting 10-11 psi on my stock 3.8 v6 motor with a T70. As long as you have the fuel there and a decent tune...it will not be a problem.

I mean you are talking about adding fuel in the tune and turning it up, not just upping the boost and going with it right?

....although if you are 2bar and it's mapped right you should be ok... how do you feel about your fuel under boost adder?

The tune has been great. I was just looking for opinions. I didn't want to push my stock motor over the edge. I have a 12 gph meth nozzle in it now, and will upgrade to a 14 if I do up the boost, as well as rework the tune.

Thanks,

Tony

I would get a dyno tune... and you should be safe....

Intercooler and Meth should take care of any detonation on 11psi..

I have a wideband installed in the car, so I can street tune it, and get the best tune possible. I'll also save a few $$$ on the dyno rental.

You still have stock fuel system? If so I wouldn't do it. Also, make sure you keep the meth full, you let it run out and boom there goes the motor if your in boost.

I have Motoron 60lb injectors, and a 255lph intank pump. I have enough duty cycle left in the injectors to increase the boost, so fuel shouldn't be a problem.

I do keep the meth topped off all the time, but it really doesn't go through too much.
