Default LT1 crank pulley/balancer For Procharger F1

Hello All

I have done a few searches on this and only found posts on just a LT1 crank pulley/balancer.

Are there any guys out there running a F1 on an LT1/LT4? If so what balancer are you running? I will be running a F1A with 12 rib setup.

I called tech suport at Procharger and I have never talked to such a JERK in my life! Good thing for them I didnt talk to him before I bought the kit or I would not have!
He said "can't help you no one make any kind of balencer for the LT1 that works with our system." I said I know other run this blower on LT1's. He said "ask them!"

I also have an Email and 2 calls into ATI (not AIT Procharger). No one will call me back!

Anyone out there that can help with a part number????

Thanks
Ross

Lady always says they are all on the phone. Last time they put me through to Ricky's voice mail.

Thanks

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience on the ProCharger tech line.

It is true that ProCharger does not have a bolt on pulley that fits an aftermarket balancer such as the ATI Superdampr for the LT1.

ATI does indeed have an SFI approved balancer for LT1/LT4 that you could use with a custom machined pulley.

ProCharger uses a spacer to mount the crank pulley on the factory setup. You could machine the ProCharger spacer to use the ATI balancer and ProCharger crank pulley.....I think.

ProCharger pulley spacer for LTx - DC009I-001
ProCharger 7.65" 12 rib pulley LTx DC009A-012

Thanks for the info I will dig into that a bit more!

I know one tech is not the way the whole Co. works but... Sure is hard not to get a bit upset after you spend over 4 grand with someone just to be blown off!

Thanks

I got a hold of someone at ATI!

He gave me part number 917270. Said to buy from Summit or Jegs. Looks like all I will need is a hub setup. Looked over there products and found a part number for a hub 916047... No one shows that as a real part number on there site. Anyone know who might carry this hub?

Thanks
Ross

I have a fluidamper damper, I just made a new spacer block to make the pully fit on there. I only have a P600B but I would think all the other prochargers would have a set up thats basicly the same. I had to make mine like an 1/8 inch longer than the old one if I remember right.

I am using an ATI balancer with a custom made dual keyed hub with along with my ProCharger F1. I would suggest that you do the same for your application.

Contact Lonnies Performance for the balancer/hub assembly. As well as the dimensions needed to properly machine the spacer to adapt to the ATI balancer. I paid someone to do the machine work, and to drill the 3 extra holes (makes a total of 6 bolts holding 12 rib crank pulley and spacer on) cost me $50...

Lonnie set me up with a custom hub and seal, dual keyed, BBC outside diameter for extra material thickness, and a custom machined timing cover to accept a bigger seal for the bigger hub diameter.
He will set you up with or without the larger hub diameter, and save you some money, but IMHO, the more material there the better.

Lonnie's is cheaper than summit or jegs as well. BTW, that part number you have includes a single keyway hub on the stock o.d... I wouldnt use that with such a large blower.

Thumbs up

The BB set up is the way to go and I would suggest using the '96-'97 style timing cover for '95 applications as there is more material to have it machined for the larger seal and hub. You'll just have to cap off the crank position sensor opening on the '96-'97 cover when used on a '95. The '93-'94 seem to have enough of material.

GM part number for the '93-94 cover: 12551636

GM part number for the '95 cover: 12551636

GM part number for the '96-'97 cover: 12552427

Even better yet! I will go BB for sure!

I will give lonnies a call tonight!

Do I send him my Cover to mod for that price or is that price on this site for a moded cover ready to go?
http://www.lonniesperformance.com/atibalancers.htm

I'm going to run the 96 cover and keep it all the same year as the car!
Thanks a ton guys! looks like there are a few options for me!

On the very bottom of that list the 96-97 cover for $229 is for a modified cover with seal installed, ready to go.
He sells everything you need by the piece... Balancer, Hub, Cover.
Great guy to work with... Fast to ship as well.

Best one I have seen is SCCA racing they make 2 versions one requires a larger hole and seal in the front cover but it will never have problems flexing.
