My car ran a 7.401 @100 mph w/9psi and a 1.8 60ft. I never had a chance to test it in the 1/4. BTW this is with the stock 60-1 .96A/R.

Hows the spool with the .96? Ive got a .96 but the car has never seen a true WOT pass. Smoke how much improvement did you see in spool with the .81 (in rough RPM estimates).

Vandal you should be makin a lot more power than that with a 408 at that kind of boost. Get some stronger valves and throw her back on the dyno. You should be seeing 650+ at 16psi.

the difference between the .96 and .81 was where the boost started. the .96 was a lagg hog. but when it came in it stayed especially up top, car had slow track times but was faster through the trap, with the .81 reponse was much quicker, track times picked up but i lost trap speed. i would guess because it was a year and a half ago but somewhere around 300-400 rpm difference in full spool. i also had a 3.73 gear and now im a 3.23 to load turbo.

i full spool by 2800-3000 rpm now i was at 3500 like you, the two fastest STS turbo f-bodies on here are longrange4u and zombie, they both are running very tall gears. thats why i went with 3.23 and it pulls very hard for a long time , keeps turbo loaded up.

Good to know I think I like the higher topend and to make up for the low end I might just set the 2 step higher

i debated on using 2.75's because i do my races on the highway...... but if i ever get the money to get all new clutch and rear, i would go with 3.23's and use a 2 step like you JD_Z28

The 2 Step works great. I know if I went to a good track and hooked up I should be able to cut 7.1-7.2's in the 1/8th, with the new turbo who know how it will do

If you like highway runs I'de say go with the 3.23's and bigger A/R FTW

The best for highway is a th400, 2.75 gears and a fairly tight stall. The larger a/r works better with an auto because boost never falls off during the shift.

FWIW my 1/8 mile is 6.7 @ 104 with a 1.58 60' I love the trans brake, 10psi launch. 14psi boost.

But wouldn't you run out of gearing? what speeds could you reach with a 3 speed th400? I love my manual gear box
