the top is the old STS design. if you look at older install manuals (like mine) the photos show that older design.

I may have mentioned it before...my exhaust housing fell apart recently

I have an extra 96mm exhaust housing...I'm trying to decide whether to have the 81 fixed or up it to the big boy... I know it spools a little later, but I hear that once it kicks in, all hell breaks loose. What to do...??
Billy, I want to drop the car off late next week and get it fixed. What do you think?

i've got the .96 in the car and it does lag a tad bit, but i would like to feel my car with the .81 and feel the difference. i do most of my racing on the highway, so the bigger one does really help

I would want to stay with the .81. You are in no danger of choking anything with it.
Just let me know what day you want to bring it.
I did ask STS about your housing and you arent the first. They have changed and dont use that type anymore.

Alright...if for some reason the .81 is not repairable, maybe we'll try the .96.

I'm thinking later next week, but you can have the car for a while b/c I'm going to be in Mexico for a bit. I'm driving the car around though...no problems thus far. I'm still not driving it in the rain for fear of water hurting the turbine...

I like the .96 on mine but then again I'm pushing 10.5 lbs.

i would stick with the .96 if i had more power to really get the full benefit, i think for just the racing on the street a .81 housing would be best to capitalize on the cam and wrapp

As you can see, the lip just fell right out of the housing...leaving the turbine completely exposed to the outside, that's why I've been careful about driving it a lot. Apparently, it was a poor design. If it's not repairable, I have a perfectly good .96 laying around...it's either that or spend more money .

I was under the impression that the housing literally fell apart in tons of pieces. Youll probly be able to weld that back up.

Ya, I'm sure they can fix it...but seriously, the exhaust housing has no other purpose than to hold the turbine and push the exhaust out the engine. Technically, half of that went away . Ya, it still works and sounds cool, but I'm afraid to drive it in the rain b/c of crap getting inside the turbo...that would/could really suck. Either way, a benjamin or so from now, I'll be just fine.
My wife continually voices her digust for what I have done to my car. I tell her to shut up and suck my ****...that only fuels her hatred for my car It's a vicious cycle.

next set of questions: for those of you running a wideband o2, WHERE are you mounting them??? up near the y pipe? just before the turbo? after the turbo??

and same question, where are you tapping for the boost gauge?

I can't wait to see the response on this one. It is a subject of great debate in at least one other thread. The response that made the most sense (to me, anyhow) is that a temporary sensor (such as an LM-1) can be located up near the y-pipe (which is where I have mine), and a permanent sensor would last longer if located after the turbo (most likely due to the lower temperature). I have seen a response that stated a forward mounted sensor would indicate a too-rich condition, but that never made sense to me since there is no combustion happening in the exhaust pipes (or you would have bigger problems).

I put mine on the up pipe just before the MAF. It works fine for me. JMO.

according to the engineers at AEM, it should be after the turbo. They say the exhaust pressure before the turbo will kill the sensor.

BOOST GAUGE right before MAF

WIDEBAND - in tail somewhere right after the turbo

i have witnessed the funny readings on the wideband, it makes it curve upwards like half a parabola, then it rails off and flatlines.

tossed my boost guage on a triple tap piece from Mcmaster coming off the brake booster along with wastegate and BOV. Wideband in the downpipe

why put the boost guage before the MAF?

I put my AEM WB in the rear-O2 bung on the passenger side in the Y-pipe. I know there is debate on this, but it works... It does show really rich at idle and I'm sure it is b/c I can smell it. But, on the dyno and using HP Tuners, we determined that the engine wasn't cutting the amount of fuel needed to produce those results. So, instead of a 10.5:1 at idle, I'm more like 12.6ish or so.

Boost gauge...right after the TB, actually under it and too the left a little is a vacuum line. I tapped it in there.
