This was several pages back and didnt see this question really get answered or talked about. Here is a post from me in another thread........

I have done some research on people using the generic griffen model # Gri-1-25241-x and some have had cooling issues and some dont. Yes that one is only 179.95 from summit but is it actually the best for what you are buying for?
To support the power I would recommend the GRI-1-55241-xs.

Ok to go into this a little deeper here are the three options you can get from Summit
1. GRI-1-25241-x, (This is what everyone gets) 27.5"x15.5"x3", core size is 2" with an overall of 3". This uses only a 1" tubing!

2. GRI-1-55241-x, same dimensions all around including core size but uses a 1-1/4" tubing

3. GRI-1-55241-xs, same dimensions as previous but changes to a 2.5" core and overall is 2.5". Also uses a 1-1/4" tubing

1. 179.95 Summit
2. 269.95 Summit
3. 287.99 Summit

To explain this....the larger tubing used has a better heat exchangethan the smaller sizes. this in turn, cools better!
Hope this helps

yep and then there is the 1-89241-X which has 1 1/2 tubing core size 27.5x15.5x3
Problem is that it is 509 bucks i think. I would rather go overkill and do it right the first time vs deal with the bs of overheating and hating your car because of it.

Cut off the 1 inch inlet and outlet. Weld 2 -12 alum bungs on each side, and you have 1.5 inches of total diamater.

This is a great thread. So my question to you all is that I'm probably going to get the griffen radiator that you guys run and stand it up, but what is a tried and true fan setup? Pusher or dual? Single or double? Model numbers are appreciated. I just can't find anything that cools without issue.

^that is what I was leaning toward as I know this fans will keep things cool. I'll plan on using the stockers an if nessacary get 2 low profile ones if clearance is an issue.

Has anyone just kept the stock radiator and stand that up? I don't know how much smaller in depth the griffin is.

tons of info here, planning on doing this in the next few weeks well the cars off for winter

have a few questions

mine is a DD car, has any one noticed any body flex or issues with cutting so much of the upper rad support out?

looks like a lot of people use the 1-25241-X, is any one useing the 1-25241-xs? it looks like the same rad but over all thickness is 2' vs 3' with straight vs angled lower rad hose, any cooling issues useing the thinner of the two?

Well, I'm getting the Griffin that everyone seems to be using here. I also picked up a 160 thermostat and plan on keeping the stock puller fans and just modify the shroud if needed. Since I'm auto I'm also picking up an additional B&M trans cooler(7x11inch'ish) and running it in series with the current one I got. I'm thinking about doing the ceramic coating on the hot parts along with header wrap. Anything else you guys recommend for cooling tips? My KYTP is the TC78 kit and I intend to keep the A/C.

I haven't been keeping u with this thread for a while..So maybe I am missing something or new advances on this..
But how do you plan on keeping the long AC condenser that is mounted on an angle, while having a shorter Griffin radiator stood up behind it. I know when I had my radiator stood up in my previous car, there was no way of keeping the stock AC condenser. Now if you were to use a different AC condenser and planned ahead, I can see it possible.

I plan on trying to modify the lower bracket to let the ac condenser drop down a little. Of course I haven't got in there to do it yet, but thats the plan going into it. Hopefully it works out. Probably have to have custom lines made i'm sure.

Right, I'm in the same boat with you. I want to keep the A/C if I can. I really don't know what I'm looking at until I start to actually do the build in about a month. I should have most everything I need ahead of time. Now if there is a shorter A/C condenser I can get to work with a stood up griffen radiator I'm all ears. What have some of you guys done to retain A/C with a front mount. I know it's been done, but isn't common. If push comes to shove then I'll probably ditch the A/C, but if there is a solution I'm willing to spend money for it.

I am thinking the AC would not work to well

Here is my logic, the AC now on a hot day barely keeps
the car cold so making the condenser smaller would only make it worst.
