Default Updates from Monday 10Sep07

Came home today and the replacement rear wheel was here. Threw it in the car along with the tire and off to Belle Tire. Got it aligned this evening and mounted the 4th tire. Unfortunately PFE was full so they could not park my car inside there overnight so it is back home tonight. Not one to waste an evening, out came the BFH and off came the old rear tires. Did some massaging and got the new wheels to fit! Woohoo! They look SWEET!!!!! Unfortunately I lost daylight so had to drive to a parking lot to get some shots. I will have to get some daytime shots later for everyone. Drop it off at PFE tomorrow for the exhaust work. Then she will be ready for a tune!

Driving it today put a non-stop smile on my face every time I heard those turbo's. I LOVE IT!!!!!! Just had to be careful to shift around 2k so I did not build any boost. I am sure there was a little because I could hear the turbo's and BOV's every once in a while. It ran a little warmer than before but stayed consistent once it got to a temp. Topped off the coolant tonight after checking it again. Should be fine from here on out. But I will probably check it a few more times just to be sure all of the air is burped out.

Hugger, dont worry about boosting, just drive it normal and you'll be fine. Should really get a boost guage in there but without one, just drive normal and you wont boost. You will make boost if you lay your foot into it, and your car will make turbo noise and blow off still in vacuum Hope this helps make you feel a little more comfortable. BTW, wheels look great, all it needs is a drop now!

Thanks Jonny. Lowering springs and a new rearend are next year after I get all of this stuff paid off first. 0% credit card for the win! I will eventually get a boost gage. Just trying to make sure I can pay off my cards this month before I buy more stuff. I don't like carrying a balance when I can avoid it. And yeah I have been driving like a granny. But they definitely spool just up to 2k rpm's. Sounds awesome! I can't wait to get it tuned and hear them spooling higher! Soon, very soon......

yep, unless your getting your foot into it, most likely your still in vacuum. Sounds like your boosting but your fine. My car with open cutouts sounds like a friggen jet cruising around while in vacuum, need to get your foot into it then the boost shoots up.

Dropped it off for the exhaust tonight. Should have it back by Thursday. Then set up the tune. Getting closer! Woohoo!!! Snapped a few more pics of the wheels in the daylight. Enjoy!

3" Y flanged to the downpipes. Y will connect to a 4" pipe that runs the length of the car and over the axle. Back to 3" outlets with bullets near the end. There will be clamps along the way so I can disassemble the exhaust to work on the car. I will get lots of pics once it is done to share. It will be tucked up and out of the way and as I said be serviceable. I can't wait. Tune is next!!! Hopefully it goes to the tuner tomorrow after I pick it up from the exhaust shop. So close!!

Planning to stay with the stock MAF for now. It will only be pushing 7psi so don't think I would need a 2 bar sensor yet. Gets dropped off for the tune tonight! Supposed to hit the dyno tomorrow afternoon!

Do I understand correctly that you are using a single racetronix setup w/ a boost a pump? If so, let me know if you have any fueling problems.

Mine is coming back together now and I am planning on tuning it to run kinda mild for now. I am just curious whether I should go ahead and get a single or wait for the dual. I'm planning on pulling the motor and putting a 427 LSX in next year anyway (with the turbos), so I could just upgrade then if a racetronix single will work for now. (ramble, ramble, ramble)

Thanks,

Dave

Single racetronix, no boost a pump. But I do have the hotwire kit with the boost a pump connection should I ever need to add that in. I was told the single racetronix was good for up to 600hp and I should only be around 500 with this set-up. We'll see. It gets tuned tomorrow!

Default Updates from Thursday 13Sep07

Picked up the car from PFE with the finished exhaust today. Looks and sounds sweet!!!!! They did a great job. It is a 3"Y at the front into a 4" pipe down the length of the car and over the axle. Back into 3" outlets with bullets in the tailpipes. They gave me an O2 bung for tuning and even made up a better floorpan brace in the process. They were also kind enough to trim my bumpstops as we discovered I had not done enough BFH work to them once the car was on the lift. They welded flanges on the downpipes, and clamped everything so I can disassemble sections of it to service the car. I had wanted twin outlet tips but none were available today so I have the single outlets. May switch to the twin tips later on. Overall I am VERY happy with the look and sound of the exhaust. Can't wait to hear it once I get the car tuned. More vids will definitely follow!

Next I drove it over to drop off with the tuner. We had to fix my EGR blockoff as it was leaking and messing with the idle. We got that all squared away. Phil will tune it and put it on the dyno tomorrow. Unfortunately I am driving to NY tomorrow morning so I won't get it back until Sunday and won't be there to record it on the dyno. But it will be ready and done when I return! Woohoo! Might even have to take it to Milan on Tuesday for the track rental....

Default Update from Friday 14Sep07 - Dyno Results!!!!

Car is tuned and did quite well!!!! Yeah bitches!!!! 508 rwhp and 513 rwtq. Phil said it tuned very well and was very happy with the consistency and AFR. I can't wait to get it back on Sunday. Phil did the street tuning and then put it on the dyno for WOT evaluations. I asked for a safe street tune as I plan to still DD the car. Here are the charts I received. Thanks Phil! Those results are great!

How much boost? Are you running off 8 psi wastegate springs?
