Default similar ET but nice new MPH best today!

LSX Transport decided to join the local fbody club, MFBA at their track rental at Cordova. pulled my car and two others out there and had our fees to race covered by our friends at Speed Inc, thanks again guys!

I had to put my old et drags on the car after the hoosier DOT's i got for the LSX shootout ruined themselves at that race. wasn't sure these tires would work.

first two passes when the air was REALLY good i had a fuel/ignition cutout happening at the end of the track each time. determined it was the damn two step acting up so unplugged it. sure enough that worked, but i was footbraking now.

car was up on MPH on every pass compared to before, just couldn't sixty foot my usual 1.3's so was runnign in the 9.80's at 137-138.

then i ran the bracket race with MFBA for fun. first pass was against a 15 second car. i chased him down and then got out of it at the 1000 foot mark and still broke out, car was **** flying and i wish i'd known it, i would have stayed in it.

went 9.84 @ 139.43 getting off the gas at 1000 mark. that was my 140+ pass right there, damnit! same ET as my previous best practicing before memphis.

air and track were bad after that so i parked it. car had some 9.60's at 140+ in it on good 60 foots i'm sure.

13 PSI of boost, bit over 3400 lbs raceweight. i'm happy with the car, its pretty quick for something i can drive everywhere and anywhere when I feel like it(highway too!)

anybody know how to restore et drags with good meat but too many street miles?? I've heard soak em in VHT?? I have a used set of 28" hoosier slicks in my moms attic, not sure if those will work any better lol.

track sucked ***. i've never seen a mickey mouse burnout box like that before and i never hope to again. i'm sure you've seen it. they hose down the entire area behind the line so its physically not possible to avoid driving right through it. watched tons of water dragged up there by all kinds of cars. Larry walked up there and said the line had NO stick by foot. my tires never had an ounce of sticky stuff on them after any passes like you've normally expect anywhere else. i was doing 1.45-1.48's every pass.

Thats cool, it will keep getting better.

As far as the tires the only thing you can do is just replace them, messing around with old tires at the track usually = a wasted day at the track. They sell that stuff to soak the tires in but its really made for newish tires, street driving and sitting around just kills them - use 'em or lose em

Tracks open there for a while or are they done for the year?

GLD has scheduled stuff still the 25th and they say open after that even weather permitting, but that's unlikely around here. we see snow by thanksgiving most years as you remember Kev.

not sure what to do on the tires. I have a set of used Hoosiers in my mom's attic also I can snag but hard to say if they'll be better. I have to take the ruined hoosier DR's off the other rims anyway, might just have the hoosier slicks in the attic popped on the rims. if I go again i'll bring both sets and see which hooks that day(if either). might just try for my 140 MPH pass even if the ET isn't any better with no traction.

car looked good Sean

bite was there in the a.m before all the T&T started & the street cars took water to the line and tore up the track

I would get some new tires and try to get out before the year is up.

Sean,

I have some really nice m&m 27inch slicks for sale. I have about 7 passes on them.
Let me know if you need them. I need some 28s if you have any.

I'd cut you a deal on these new M/T 325 drag radials i have here but I dont want to ship them.

I remember going to 41 in december a couple times when the weather stayed good but I know the grove and byron closed up earlier. Be nice to hit one of those 45 degree days with some good tires..

Kev, yeah 41 used to race year round on sundays if it was i think 35 degrees or warmer. i remember that one real mild winter like 01 bunch of guys went in Jan, i was out in iowa in college and couldn't go. Byron and I think cordova do the jan 1st hangover nationals every year. nothing you'd want to do in a fast car though obviously.
don't want to ship them?? well thanks alot you tease!! lol.

Alex..i'm not sure my car would hook a 27?? both these ET drags and the hoosiers i have in the attic are 28's. they don't have much in the way of passes but a few hundred street miles this year and they are one year old so I'm not sure it'd be a fair trade if they dont' work. tons of meat on them but i was spinning and only getting mid 1.4 sixties, but like larry said the starting line was fucked by the time i got on the track. you can email me at sean@lsxtransport.com and we can chat though and see whats up.

Nice run! Too bad you didn't have some good tires. Someone was saying most people were running 2-3 tenths and mph quicker. Good luck!
