I was wondering about that myself. I'm not sure how the switches work though, if it's just momentary or switched on or off. If the nuetral safety switch is switched on to dissable the start up, then it would be in the on possition through all the gears but in the off position while in park but then if it needs to be off to start the car, if they are reversed the car should start anyway because the reverse lights would also be in the off possition in park. It should be easy to figure out though, I just have to go through the gears and make sure the reverse lights come on in reverse only, if they don't then I have them wrong. Will the the reverse lights even come on with the car off though? I guess if I have the key turned, they should have power so they should still come on when I put it in reverse right? Man too many changes at once to track down a problem I need to get back out there and start narrowing down these possibilities, I can't wait to get home from work today, I'm staying out there until I figure this out.

Wow, now the alt comes into play too. I didn't hook up that brown looking cable that was related to the alternator because when I was reading up on reconnecting my wiring harness it was said that that was a useless ground and it can be ditched. Looks like now I have to figure out what that was hooked up to and put it back on Anyone know the one I'm talking about? It has a hole for a bolt on each end, about 2' long and looks like a gold/brown shoe lace(flat). I just opened up a whole **** load of possible problems Looks like I got some work to do.

I know this doesn't have anything to do with your wireing issue but, I was wondering about your hood brackets. Is that something you made or does someone offer those for our cars?

Here is how I figured out a lot of my wiring:

The #7 & #9 is the grounding strap I'm talking about. Is it needed and where does it hook up?

Alright, got some things worked out tonight but have a new problem. The reason my starter wasn't working was because I had the switches on the shifter reversed. Good call kgaligher and TURBO383WS6, yes the reverse lights were on in park, guess I never thought to even look back there. So I switched them and now they both work how they should. Thanks guys. Now back to the starter, now I'm getting power to it and it's definitely doing something but it ain't crankin the motor. Now when I go to start it, it makes a loud clicking sound and all the lights and gauges flash with the clicks. It's not like a dead battery click, much louder and quicker. I don't think it's engaging with the flex plate but I'm not sure, it just doesn't feel right and it definitely doesn't sound right. It's not turning the engine over, that much I can tell for sure. I guess I have to have someone crank while I'm under there and see what it's doing. Anyone ever experience anything like this?
