TC78 Goes on Mustang dyno today!!!
I recieved my tc78 from Dr Turbo 2 weeks ago. After getting my log rewelded and a bunch of stuff powder coated by SilveGhost the setup is all back and running.
I dropped it off at Straightline last night. Im still running 93 octane, ill be doing e85 in August. I really wanted to get a good comparison of the two fuels with the exact same setup.
All mods in sig, only thing i changed was a 3inch turbo intake tube to a 4inch.
Ill post up numbers today!!! Im hoping for 575whp and 550ftlbs.

Actually i changed it last night but i check before just to see. It was bone dry. So maybe that was the break in oil that they put in new turbos? Not sure but i put about 100miles on it and there was no more oil.

Just got a call from the Mike at Straight line. Baseline with no real tuning at 15degrees timing it did 520whp and 710ftlbs unlocked. He said the torque is probably more like 650 due to some minor converter flash.
The cool thing is that he said the tires were smoking the whole time. So there going to add a couple straps and put some guys in the hatch for more weight.
This is at 15psi up to 5500rpms. 480ftlbs at 2500rpm. I cant wait to see with some tuning and pulling it to 7k.

He just took it to 6500rpm and said there was some turbo surging. I suspect the aem boost controller. With it running off the spring at about 12psi it doesnt do it.
Anyone have any experience with this controller?

Also another TC78 is on a LS1 today on the dyno....the customer called and was having some issues blowing off an intercooler pipe, so they are fixing that now. Car is a built 347 with a 6spd, and custom kit he said based off a KYTP kit.
BTW the 1st pass they made at 17psi made 781rwhp before it blew the pipe at 5100rpms.

Stock ls6 intake and tb with stock casting 241 heads with some p&p work,226/228,.610.600lift on a 115lsa. Im changing the spring rate setting in the controller from 14 to 8 to see if that helps.

Ok guys......861rwhp at 5500rpms and 877rwtq @5000. Car is having some fuel issues now (always something I guess) and looks like they may hold off any runs for today.
The owner said the motor is stock truck heads, stock LS6 intake, stock LS6 cam and Eagle/CP bottom end. Car is a budget setup.....not bad at all.

I guess we will find out if dyno numbers really mean anything. I spoke to my tuner and he said it was making 525hp by 5k but it was flat lining after that.
He suspects its blowing right by the converter because the motor is still pulling like a bastard but its not showing at the tires. It did 525whp and 738ftlbs. Also no sure if this matters but the dyno was set off of wheel speed because the amp clamp was broken.
My tuner says its a whole new animal it just doesnt show on the dyno sheet as far as hp.
This was at an average of 11.5 at 16 degrees at 15psi.

Man thats disappointing about your converter. I've got a single disc 3200 vigilante as well. I was hoping to get mine to hold 550 rwhp. That torque's nuts though, thats what it doesn't like. Great numbers dude, I'm sure its got a bunch more in it after 5K that you're not seeing - going by that torque esp....jeez tire fryer!

Essentially yes....we are working on getting him a new unit. We are bringing out a new unit from Tnetics that we built a few custom ones earlier this year. The essentially were built as a replacement for a customer that was running a 76GTS and wanted more power, quicker spool and still use the same basic kit. Same exhaust side with some tweaks and the comp side is larger now, with big race cover. The 76 will be rated 1140 and the 78 will be rated 1200. Units will become avialable next week. Give us a call on them...
