Default Kinky Racetronix Fump Pump Venturi Tube issue

I'm in the process of installing my racetronix 'drop in' FPA-001B fuel pump from WS6Store into my '00 Camaro tank. My old tubes (outlet and venture) were so brittle, they fell apart just removing the bucket.

No matter how careful I tried, I couldn't get the new venturi tube to bend without kinking. The port on the pump is opposite of the stock pump, so it needs to bend even more. Not that it mattered, since my line kinked well before that. Is there any tricks to get it to curve? Heat? Or maybe an alternative to the tubing they provide?

I shortened mine a little and used some gentle heat from a heat gun to coax it into a gentle bend after it kinked like yours originally. I still haven't started the car yet, so I hope the kink does not return, but it looked good after it was done.

Using a heat gun works the best. I have had about 20 calls on that this year and every instance is fixed with a heat gun and sometimes (as mentioned above) trimming it a tad. if you have kinked the hose more than a few times youll need a new one. we have more on hand at all times

I'll give the heat gun a shot this weekend. If it's already too far gone, I'll contact you for a new one (or two).

Thanks!

If there is room I'd think a longer hose ran into a loop would be easier, as in no heat gun needed. My 98 doesn't have that fancy stuff so I'm not familiar with it, but I've fixed similar issues with longer loops before.

Don't even sweat it. I got a new tube here that I got from ws6store that I don't need because I used the one that came with my new pump kit since the check valve inside my racetronix crapped out and I didn't feel like going back and forth with racetronix trying to get it replaced free of charge.

The tube I have is the one on the right that they sent me in this pic:

Just pm me your shipping address and I'll send it to you for free. Note that the tube from ws6store is different material that the tube that comes with the racetronix kits, and they are switching over to the new tube that I have.

The whole pump bucket setup really just amounts to a tedious pain in the ***. I've done it 3 times now and I still have to take my time on it to ensure nothing get's messed up.

Get a long spring from a ACE or your favorite hardware or auto-part store that will slide inside the tube..
Cut to length ,, take the ends off like hooks in the wire and such..
Its how power boat suction hoses in the outboards are kept for kinking/collapsing in all the tight tuns they make..
Needs to be a fairly heavy spring, not like the thin wire ones for an accelerator pedal.

Replacement non-kinking Nylon convoluted tubes are available in our web store here:
https://www.racetronix.biz/product.asp?ic=fft-300x3b

The original tube was Teflon/PTFE which is is the most resistant to all types of fuels and additives but it had proved challenging for some customers to install without kinking.

That's great - but I dont think the convoluted tube is the one people were having issues with/ not the topic of this thread.
Forgive me if I'm wrong.

You are incorrect. This is exactly what this 3mm ID tube is for.

Good to know. Any plans for a hose of similar construction that will fit on a barb that is roughly 0.25mm (the one exposed after the stock FPR is removed) for the C5 conversion with aftermarket bucket: https://ls1tech.com/forums/fueling-i...-mod-pics.html
I purchased 51155K42 and with the 800-308 oetiker clamp, it's not going anywhere, but you can still twist it. The ID could have been just a little lower for an even better fit. See posts 9 & 10 here:

Since that tube is not under pressure it does not matter if it "twists" or not.

Something that specific that wi fit only one or 2 types of aftermarket pump module isnt likely to have a big need for it so not sure if its likely it would be produced, but maybe Racetronix has an option through their supplier.

I can say on every module ive worked with, none have needed the tube setup you had to. And ive modified well over 120 modules now. Its the luck of the draw there, but bad luck of course.
