Which External Fuel Pump..please vote Barring some intervention ........it apears I will have to go to a sumped tank set up for my 408 Procharged GTO. Specifically a complete new external pump with return system, essentially eliminating the existing bucket. or possibly a comination setup to retain the existing set up and use the external as an in line booster.....
This car is 99% street driven so reliability is of utmost importance. please post your experiences with any of the pumps noted.
I am planning to use some sort of voltage controller, currently considering the Aeromotive unit.
set ups under consideration are:
Barry Grant: King Sumo and Regulator
Magnafuel: 665-MP-4701 or the new 4301 in line EFI pump
Aeromotive: Eliminator or pro series
Would like to hear your thoughts, and experiences with any and all of the above

You already know what I am going to say... Aeromotive A1000
And I also recomend getting an Aeromotive Voltage Regulator/Pump Speed Controller as well.
I have no problems holding 65psi at 600+hp as you know! That P1 probably won't take you much beyond that as it is!

Oh yeah... Are you going to be looking for 60# injectors? Because I am thinking about selling mine to prep for my own build! And I am going to need something a little bit bigger! Hell I might even consider selling my pump since I am thinking it won't hold the power I want to make with this car/setup. Let me know if your interested in either and we can talk!

other: i dont know too many people that are happy street driving with the race pumps.. they are very expensive to buy/repair and then you have to buy the votage regulator.
OR you can buy one/two/three external walbro 255's and would be quieter cheaper and last longer than your above choices

How much power and at what pressure do you need to make it? Answering this question will help nail it down. The King Sumo and Magnafuel are both hard core jackhammers that might drive you crazy. They are also race pumps despite what they would like you to think at purchase time. Maganafuel especially likes to overkill your fuel system. If you look at their suggested pump applications you'll see that they are trying to sway your mentality towards hard core for the big $$. At least that's my take.

I voted for "Other". I've got a 14 year old Weldon in my Syclone (which is undergoing an LSx transplant) and it still works as good as the day I bought it. Never used a voltage regulator...99+% sreet driven. Never overheated...never quit running...never repaired/rebuilt...never one single problem. Unfortunately, I do have to replace this pump, because I need a larger pump. But, you can bet your a$$ I wouldn't even think about getting anything other than another Weldon. If you can find one single BG, Magnaflow or Aeromotive that's lasted over 14 years on the street, I'll be very surprised. (I've see countless stock pumps crap out earlier.)

MY potential HP on the FI 408 is beyond 800HP at the flywheel, initially it will be less than that due to the small P1SC-1, So I May be able to get away with a single 255 walbro in the tank....but I don't think that will work much past 575-600 FWHP.
The point of this discussion is to come up with a plan that once inacted eliminates all future fueling issues. Once I go to the time and expense I want to be done with it, other than routine maintenance.

All pumps mentioned are not good street pumps and will not last. Use the Weldon 600A it is an indistructable street pump and is very quiet. It is good to at least 900fwhp. If you are interested I am looking to put together a fuel system for the GTO's would love to help you set it up.

I don't see how anybody can really say the about the Weldon 600-A pump yet. They haven't been out all that long and don't really move much more fuel than a 11106 Aeromotive, and happen to look pretty similar. I do know for a fact that the A-1000 while being more bulky and prehaps a bit louder can go over 100k miles and has moved
vegetable oil, diesel, gasoline and is also apparently E85 friendly (from an official source). Not knocking your suggestion at all ok, I know they do work, but the Weldon just hasn't had a bunch of time in the field.

They under rate all there pumps we have several boost cars in the 800+rwhp with this pump. One cog driven YSI car put down 840rwhp on a Mustang dyno with one 600A I know this is the absolute most out of it but that is almost 1000fwhp. I have replaced several A-1000's that took a dump on the street and no longer use Aeromotive. Plus no one wants a pump that loud under there car. The Weldon is quiet.

I got to around 700rwhp with my Weldon and had to dump a lot of fuel with the injectors to get 750rwhp out of my setup. Now I am as far as I can go without adding another Weldon or buying another (larger)pump. I have a Procharged 408w/15psi.
It is a very quiet pump and I did not have to run any kind of voltage regulator. I hope this helps.
