the dowel may be long enough to stick out the front of the cog on the balancer but the fuel pump will have to be moved way forward to get everything to line up...

update:

I moved the fuel cell to the back, keeping the belt pump up front, and below the level of the tank.

even with a 1.37 60 ft, the fuel pressure is rock solid on the launch and all the way down the track. it doesnt even flinch

You will have problems if you try to go sub 1.25-1.28.

Why is that? What is the fix for it? I'm going this route myself and would like to get it right the first time. Thanks for any help!

He is saying that a mech pump in the rear has a hard time overcoming the g's of a 1.2 60'. It'll starve for fuel.

The guy he is quoting is saying he has a belt driven pump and moved the fuel cell to the rear.

belt drive up front with cell in the rear will starve at the 1.3 or below 60ft. The pump is a pusher not a puller. You can either run a waterman cable drive or use an electric to feed a front cell that in turn feeds the mechanical.

Thanks now I understand. I guess now my question is how big of a surge tank do you need? If the engine is making 1000hp on methanol, how big does the surge tank and rear mounted electric pump need to be to keep up?

So how streetable is the belt driven pump setup? I am at a point now where I need to do something. I have maxed out 2 walbro 430's (267 Part#) at 19psi at 6000rpm on my setup making 1076rwhp. I am told I can run 3 walbro 430's and dual BAP in order to make over 1300rwhp on E85 but at that point there is to many things that can fail. One pump fail, BAP fail etc etc etc. Seems like a major pain in the ***.

My car was built to be a 100% street daily driver and track killer. Thoughts. FYI yes Im crazy and need a 1300rwhp daily but you can control power with boost. lol.

I've never run one personally but can't see how it wouldn't be streetable. Actually more streetable than the big externals. No heat, no amp draw..........basically just relying on the belt to stay put.

may be more streetable that an electric because it doesnt heat the hell out of your fuel at cruise..

only thing is first crank of the day may take a second or two longer since it doesnt automatically prime the lines like an electric

This is now on my to-do list radar thanks to LS1PUNK

My new car will be using a belt driven cable drive fuel pump so I needed to explore this anyway.

Where does everyone want these mounted? a/c side?

I'm thinking a pair of 6061 plates acting as mount and tensioner, with necessary hardware and hopefully mounting universal pumps? anyone have mounting dimensions for a few popular pumps?

i'd LOVE to have them somewhat near where the water pump is at so as to not lose anything accessory wise.

would be cool if i could get it as high and tight as possible, but at a point it crosses paths with the factory serpentine route.

ill see what i can do.
