Strange vs. Moser vs. Ford 9"
I'm trying to decide which rearend to go with and lately the Moser 12 bolt isn't looking to good. I have not seen any bad publicity on either Strange or Ford rearends any suggestions would be appreciated. Oh, the goal for my car is high 10's-low 11's H/C setup with 450+RWHP, 4.11 gears, some track usage so I want to keep my ABS, and TCS for the street and also maybe in the future I'll stroke her...
Thanks for any suggestions,
Nathan

How much is a 9", Compared to a 12 bolt after all the bells and whistles?
Can you guys give specific reasons from experience why you would go with the 9"? Just because of the shear strength? Better carriers?
Thanks for any info. Still trying to figure out what I want to buy.

I think I got mine around 2100 shipped.
They usually ship in 3 boxes...the rear in one, the axles in another and the center in a 3rd box. Mine came ups which was considerably more convenient than truck freight.
One piece of advice...get the drain plug option...if you don't fluid changes are a serious PITA since you have to pull the center section and suck the oil out

ditto on the nine inch. but not to mislead you...it isnt bullet proof! looking at the whole picture the nine inch is some what stronger than the 12 bolt but only if properly set up. both have there ups and downs.
but as a whole, when looking outside the ls1 community, a larger percentage of serious drag racers run the nine inch than the twelve bolt. hope this helps and hellion i sent you a pm with more info

Ok, guys who have had probs with the 12 Bolt...did you trash it with slicks/ET's? I'm going with DR's, but will not plunk down over 2k just so I can be paranoid like I am now with my stock 10 bolt.

The 9'' will be more or less indestructable for that power range if you set it up with decent parts. Avoid the aluminum center section for street use.
And just as Fireball said - you can ship it via UPS which is 100 times more convienent than truck freight - believe me.

I went with the Strange 12 bolt, and I absolutely love it. Came packaged well, their was a problem with my rear end and Strange fixed it Immediatly. The rear end cover was cracked (Chrome one), so they sent me new gaskets, fluid, and they gave me a LPW Aluminum SUpport cover for free!

NO.
But I like my chances vs. a Moser. Customer service is everything. It's a lost art in today's world....
