If you cant call it a beefy ten bolt, I'm sure you can classify it as some kind of meat product....
Parts list:
precision 3.73's
factory auburn with ARP ring hardware (ebay $275 w/30k)
USA alloy axles (net $160 shipped)
MAC rear cover (WS6 store $138)
Raytec solid crush sleeve ($22)
ARP cap stude kit (thunder racing $28)
ARP 3 1/2 wheel studs (net $65)
oil, additives, new pinion bearings, paint $130 est
these are all est prices i don't know exactly what I paid in shipping. Honestly I like to forget about how much I pay for performance parts...
First i pulled the whole POS. it was getting a little too noisy, and the diff sounded like I had a bag of rocks in the posi.

I always thought it lame that the factory didn't coat their rear ends with some kinda paint. mine had 80k on it and looked like ****.

It's a pretty good pattern for a set of used gears, I reused the new/used carrier bearing but switch to a new set of koyo on the pinion. The original timken front pinion bearing was toasted.9making my noise) set backlash to .008
![](http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e281/disturbthepeace1978/newyears040.jpg)
set up with all the ARP goodies
![](http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e281/disturbthepeace1978/newyears042.jpg)
when it came to installing the rear cover i ran into clearance problems between the cap studs and inside lip of the cover. Only toke a couple of minute to fix though.

As posted before the hardware that MAC provides is a 1/4in too short.(lame)
I used my drill press to fix this. using a 3/8 bit to center each bolt hole i lock down the cover in place. Then I would then switch to a 1/2 bit to to deepen the counter sinked bolt hole.

All done after hours of cleaning and building
![](http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e281/disturbthepeace1978/newyears048.jpg)
![](http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e281/disturbthepeace1978/newyears049.jpg)
I think wheel studs on a car just look sexy

All in all a great mod. going from a 3.23 to these 3.73's isn't a huge jump but enough to justify it. The car feels great and doest dog in forth anymore. the gears are dead silent until about 75mph. I can hear a slight howl but only if the windows are up, the cut out is closed, and the radio is off. but who drives like that anyway??
est total spent: $820ish not bad!

its best is a 11.39 on 18lbs. its a small motor less the 2L...
a little simple green soak, a wire brush, and a lot of quarters at the car wash is all it toke....
Looks really good. That must have taken a long time to clean all that grime off before you painted it.

Not really on a torque arm set up. Only if the rotational load is outside the center section.
