Hit a brick wall during 12-bolt swap
Background: I bought a fully-assembled Moser 12-bolt, and opted to reuse my stock backing plates. As you all know, this means that I have to remove the backing plates from my stock rear, slide them onto my new axles, and then press my axle bearings onto the axle.
Problem: When I received the rear end, the axle bearings were ALREADY pressed onto the axles. After driving to 3 separate machine shops, I was told that there is NO way to remove the bearings and salvage them. That means that, unless I can find an alternative, I'm going to have the brand new bearings removed from my brand new axles, and then shell out for a pair of brand newer-new axle bearings!
I already have a call into Moser, and they are looking into the problem as we speak. Does anybody have any other ideas?

Problem solved... Moser acknowledged their screw-up and is over-nighting a new set of axle bearings at no charge A total of 2 phone calls (5 mins each) and the problem is fixed. Great customer service, Moser!!!

Yup, UNLESS you send them Backing Plates They should not be sending you axles with the bearings pressed in.
BUT I will say I have had a shop remove my bearings due to a LT1 to LS1 Moser Swap and I brough them the axles. With a generic press they came out with out, put the LS1 back plates on and I slugged her in and no issues since.

I put my the backing plates on the wrong axles on my moser 9" and easily removed them with a press.
When I reinstalled them it felt like they pressed on just as tight as they did originally so I dont see why you cant reuse them.
