Best street gears for low noise?
Hello, I have read/searched enough so far to know there are issues with the 10 bolt! My 2002 T/A has the M6/3.42 and for the most part I drive legal and want to stay that way!! The 3.90 seems the way to go with street tires for a little more fun and still able to cruise, I like this better than the 3.73 that would only yield just over 8%. What I would like is opinions on brand names for "low noise", as my stockers howl anyway. I am finding names like Motive Performance, Jaws Gears. Thanks in advance, Les>>>

Thanks, I will look into these as I am in Canada. About the 4.10s, I didn't know the carrier would accept them? I do make use of 5 and 6 due to highway use, seems like most of you have gone to the 3.90 as it is a 13% jump? How about Eaton gears? Thanks, Les>>>

I have 3.42 motives in the 3rd gen beast. don't remember the color of the box. they're very quiet. not perfect, but you have to listen and concentrate to hear it.
my car was a special case, and it took alot of tweeking to get just right. but, other than my budget build costing me the price of a nine inch all said n done in the end.
IMHO the quality of the install (and the monkey behind the wrench) is much more important than the brand of gear you choose. dollar for dollar.

Jaws Gear and ratio?
OK, I am getting closer! Just got off the phone with Jaws Gear, very friendly, they offer a GM 3.73 or 4.11 for $265.00.
The Motive (red box, 2nd in quality to GM) is $179.55 for a 3.90. The blue box is $20 less but is 2 step cut rather than 5 step meaning more noise, hope I got this right!!! I don't want to lose my 1st. gear or all cruising comfort, 4.11 is a 17% jump from 3.42, 3.90 is 13%, 3.73 is 8%. Anyone else had the pleasure? Thanks, Les>>>

I wouldn't really go with any more gear than 3.73s.
my 3.42s cross the line at about 5300RPM. 700r4 and gen1 crate motor.
an LSx will prolly want a little bit more gear than my gen1...
here's a handy gear calculator to play with and see what fits the ticket.
