how can i determine what brand the posi is?

Default how can i determine what brand the posi is?

we have a ten bolt that is supposed to have a eaton posi unit in it but it looks just like any other unit and there's no specific markings is ther a way to tell?

Yeah, the Eaton posi looks quite a bit different than the Auburn or Torsen units...

About the only issue in telling a posi is if it is a Yukon, as they stole the whole Eaton posi design... ie, it looks identical to an Eaton...

Which, begs a question, are the Yukon parts compatible if you want to rebuild an Eaton posi and vice-versa?

Everything I have heard points to the Yukon version being just as good as the Eaton one. Hell, I think they are both damn near the same in price as well...

I do believe that is a stock Auburn posi... it is not an Eaton.

You can tell because of the scalloped metal that is missing in the case "window" right across from the ring gear. The Eaton is a solid perfect rectangular "window" into the posi unit. The Auburn has that distinctive rounded area missing.

Do a search on eaton posi and auburn posi on google and look at the pics... you can tell which is which.
