Default Drag Racing with a Detroit Locker

Does anyone have any results form drag racing with a Detroit locker? My understanding of the Detroit Locker is that once a wheel starts to spin it will engage; only by then you will have already turned side ways be out of the groove. I guess what I am wondering is if it will lock during the burn out and stay locked during the launch or if it will unlock when you roll forward into the beams and then spin one tire momentarily before it locks again. Does anyone have some first hand experience. I am torn between a 9" rear with a locker and a 12 bolt with a heavy duty posi. If it was my 2nd gen drag car, I would just go with a 9" and a spool, but this is my daily driver.

I have no experiance with them from a drag racing point but I do run them in my Jeep Wranglers' differentials. They are a full locker design meaning they will stay locked at all times except going around corners they will allow one wheel to slip some but the locker is still locked.

lockers are great for the strip. they will unlock for turns on the street, but after doing your burnout and going to the line, its locked and ready to rock and roll. i will be using one this season, spool was fun but i hate it when it comes to parking in tight spots lol.

I have used them for drag racing before with great success. Make sure you are driving straight for about 10-15 feet before you do your burn out, that way it is locked and both tires are equally staged. After that, its the same equal traction as a spool.

They are alright. A spool is better. I run one in mine, a daily driver too, but some call me crazy With my new M/T ET Streets I cant even tell I have a spool, probably cause the sidewall gives.
