Default ABS Deleted - Possible to remove ABS exciter ring from carrier?

I came across a used 10 bolt, while rebuilding it, I was curious if there was anyway to remove the ABS ring, since I don't have ABS.

If you don't mind destroying it, just use a punch and a hammer you can get it to work off a little at a time.

Well, I guess my question is, does the abs ring, space the ring gear?

I think you can just pull it off but the question would be WHY? Just run with the wires unhooked (thats how I did it).

When you get around to ordering a 12 bolt you can order it without any ABS stuff.

There's really no reason to why, except if I dont need it, pull it, im changing the gears out which lead me to this question.

I understand that but for the work (if he wasn't doing a gear swap) the amount of mass isn't going to make that much different....

So will it make the ring gear too far away from the pinion gear?

I know it's not much but hey it's a reason right

I bet there are some harcore guys out there that are like hell yea it's worth it.

Bawls I wish I could answer your question but I don't know if it's inbetween the gear and the carrier I wouldn't remove it. If it is attached to the outside of the carrier I don't see why you couldn't remove it. But why do you need to take it off in the first place?

I don't think it has anything to do with the ring gear. I think the ring gear mounts directly on the posi/spool (diff) on one side and the reluctor ring is on the other side.

It wont cause any problems with the ring gear. It only sits on a small lip, maybe about 1/8th of an inch, not completely under the gear.
