NEW LS1 camaro owner looking to change gears, what kind?
Hey guys i just sold my 02 gt stang and bought a 99 ls1 z28 camaro. It came with an SLP intake w/ KN filter, SLP exhaust, Everything else is STOCK.
I want to change the rear end gears but dont know which to pick. Im looking to get my 1/4 mile time DOWN, BUT still want top end speed and i use this as a daily driver car. Please suggest kind of gears, size, and prices.
I appreciate it guys, Thanks, Nick

Is this car an m6 manual? I have a 6 speed with stock 3.42 gears and i will buy 4.33's most ppl get 4.11's or 4.10's which is perfectly fine to maintain highway driveability with a .5 final gear ratio. WIth and a4 auto car you wont be able to go as steep. I wouldnt know what to say on those maybe 3.73's maybe that wouldnt be worth the buy if u have 3.42's but im not sure what gears come with autos. Clarify your tranny.

I wouldnt get anything higher than 3.73 on either A4 or M6 LS1, since you have a M6 that means you have 3.42's stock which is a very good compromise b/w drivability and acceleration, plus if you get something like a 4.10 gear you will have problems hooking up(especially with an M6) unless you have some really sticky tires, on top of that the LS1's already make alot of torgue down low compared to the 4.6 GT's which have no low end tq thus LS1's dont need steep gears like the mustangs which need the help getting off the line...if anything save your money and get some longtubes, and ory pipe...

M6 Here..I have 373's ...410's will go in when I get a stronger rear..lotsa threads about this....most m6 guys will say 410 but I am trying to keep my rear for awhile...the ring and pinions are very small for our 7.5's. Go take a look at how teeny the teeth are on a 410 gearset...not much smaller than what I have..but they are smaller....

geez, what did his question have to do with mustangs? or how much torque LS1's make, can someone just answer the guys question.
Sorry, but I see post after post where someone wants to spurt their opinion on something completely different then the original question.
