Default BMR Carbon Fiber Driveshaft

Wondering what you guys think of their carbon fiber driveshafts. I seached but didn't see any opinions on them. I noticed they have a 3.25" one for $599. It seems like that is a little cheaper than others like the ACPT that cost around $800. Is the quality the same? I'd like to go as light as possible, but still have some strength.

this cars puts down sick times and still runs a steel driveshaft.

If your looking for every ounch of weight, get it . One thing Ive heard is if the carbon fiber breaks it will shatter apart so its safer.

I have a carbon fiber driveshaft, but it was made by PST. In then end, it was the same weight as my stock aluminum shaft, but much, much beefier (3.75" diameter, 1350 u-joints, powerglide slip yoke, etc).

If you are after weight savings here, don't bother. The moment of inertia of a driveshaft in operation is just too small (all the mass is close to the axis of rotation). Carbon fiber damps vibrations very well, which is why I got it.

So there is NO driveshaft that is lighter than stock? I'm not really going for too much strength because I only have about 350rwhp.

Man...I'm telling you - I don't think you'll feel a difference with a lighter driveshaft. Seriously. They don't weigh enough to begin with (~12 lbs).

If you really want to get rid of some weight, get a lighter clutch setup. They exist, and DO make a difference.

I would want strength overall . worry about weight 2nd , 350 rwhp is getting close to 400flywhl hp .

I got a steel ds, it was heavier than the stocker but I noticed no difference in performance. I prefer the piece of mind knowing I don't have to worry about it anymore having ripped the stocker in two.

I agree. This is why the 2 piece D/S of the Extended Cab pickup I have I feel is a better choice for a C/F D/S. Reduced rotating mass for me indeed and a 1 piece is available as well.
