Default GM LS Diff fluid w/ Royal Purple??

Is this ok? I am going to change my gear oil, seeing as it has not been changed since I have owned the car. The RP says it has friction modifer/LS additive in it.

The guy @ NAPA told me that having too much LS additive would give me chattering problems. I have already bought the RP, need to know if I can add the additive w/o a problem.

I used mobil1 with a bottle of additive and now i'm one wheel peelin. I think i might try regular oil with the additive next year to see if it helps any.

I figure but it wasn't one wheel peeling before the M1 oil and I've only put maybe 200-300 miles on the car this year. I'm sure the fluid helped accelerate the wear some.

both royal purple, and redline gear oils already have that LIMITED SLIP aditive in it... thats why are more expensive, and better oils... just put them in like that.. without the LS stuff...

If you still have a stock 10 bolt with a Torsen T2 (what the car came with) in there, you have NO clutches to "chatter". So no, more LS additive will NOT cause any problems other than costing you $$. The thing is, with a Torsen, you don't need any LS additive (BECAUSE you do not have clutches in there), but some claim (dealers mostly) that it quiets the T2 "coast down muted marbles in a can sound" a little bit. Who knows??

That's what I fugured. If I'm laying one leggers, I can allways throw the GM LS Dif fluid in then. I do the change this weekend and update on this. as far as my experiences.

BTW, to the other poster. I am installing 75/90 Synthetic. THe factory calls for...

I also used the same weight RP with the LS additive and haven't had any problems, that was 5,000 miles ago. Costs a little more, but I've been happy with it.

I have the RP gear oil in mine, ive had no problems with it, i put it in at about 25,xxx miles, (and also replaced the transmission fluid w/ RP ATF at the same time) then drove to FL and back the next week, and stayed there in FL for 3weeks. still no problems to date, and i now have 38,128miles as of right now.
I usually top both the transmission fluid and the gear oil off every other (motor) oil change, just to be sure its always at the correct level, but thats just how i am, i change the fuel filter every 10-15,000mi also
