Default What did I break? Axel, Posi, Gears? Please help!

I will try to describe what happened as best as I can, I pulled a holeshot last night with the DR on the street and it spun for a few feet then hooked hard and "BOOM"!!! I have blown gears before and it felt the same but I slowed down to about 10mph and on accel I felt a "clunk". but was able to limp the car about 5 miles to my garage. When I blew the gears last time there was no way it would move. There is something wrong for sure but can anyone give me any ideas as to what could have broke and still be able to drive it home (slowly). And yes its a 10 bolt. I know I know but I am really strapped for some cash right now so a Moser or Strange just aint in the near future.
Thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

Id put my money on gears or a blown diff unit. Probably broke some teeth off the ring gear. I did that with my 4.10s.

The same thing happened to me last sat at the track, it wound up being the spider gears in the posi, but I wasn't able to limp it home. BTW, mine went on the 1-2 shift on spray.

Ring gear teeth or spiders.

Ya know, not singling you out alone.... but maybe those of you that read this post, should put $3k in the bank before they go out and hammer on their 10bolt. That way, when you blow it up, and remember its a question of when.... not if, you'll have the cabbage to fix it. Or if you dont have it stashed.... tshat should tell you not to go beat on it, until you do.

we're trying to get mine somwhere to tear the cover off and take a look too... mine also still limps a little bit, but gives a hellacious CLUNK nuder a load, and there's a lot of play in the driver's side wheel. i'm guessing mine is gonna be a cracked carrier and possibly an axle. hopefully we'll see soon... good luck with yours as well.

might be an axle! easy way to find out is put it on jackstands and see if one tire moves and the other doesnt lol. But my bet is ring gear teeth.
