Default Well, its decision time, 4.11s, 4.30s, or 4.56s????

Mods are in sig, time to decide on a gear. Rearend will be a Moser 9", I already own a set of brand-spanking-new 4.11s, but am thinking of even more gear.... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> I think my cam would really like 4.30s or 4.56s. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I had really good results with my 4.56 gears. Between the gears, heads and cam I dropped about 1.3 seconds off my before ET <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

In my M6 gas mileage was averaging about 18 MPG after and about 20 MPG before <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Turning a 6 speed car to 6500rpm in 4th with 400+rwhp and 26" tires, anything much more than 4.10's will cause a shift to 5th.

I say a 4.56 gear is the way to go. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I ran a 28x10x15 slick and would shift into 4th gear just after the finish line at the 1/8 mile. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

On the street, I got 28 miles to the gallon on a 1,200 mile trip to Oklahoma and back. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

I loved my 4.56 gear but now, I have 5.14 gears and run a 30x9x15 slick at the track. On the street I don't see much of a difference from the 4.56s to the 5.14s. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Good luck to ya. <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />

1moreblackta,

If you are asking me? My topspeed in the 1/4 mile with the 4.56 gears was 122 mph. In the 1/8 mile it was 96 mph. My shift light is set at 6,800 rpms. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

yes, i was. glad you came back to this post!

im looking to run 4.56's on a solid roller motor......

all my friends are little b1tches who think that anything more than 3.73's is 'just insane'

i ran around on 4.11's for a while. Noticed i was on the verge of 4th crossing the traps (way to much wheelspin on khumo victoracers)

just trying to get a feel for things...\

fyi, the 4.11s were fun. they changed my car completely.

I'm crossing the traps around 6000 rpms so I'm wasting 600rpms especially since the dyno shows I'm still making power up to 6600. So for the spring I'm planning on going up to 4.88's. Now granted if I go to a sealevel track I might hurt myself a bit and have to shift into 5th, but this setup should be perfect for Bandimere.

i have 4.56 gears with a 27.3" tire! i will be experimenting with this combo! as long as you are making power up in the high rpm, go for it! 4.10+26" is great, but if you go bigger tire, you need to keep up with the gearing.
