they had a zexel torsen? Yes, torsen consists of worm gears. a locker isnt the same as a torsen. and a Torsen is one of the best LSDs out there. I believe it is very similar, if not identical to how a trutrac works.

correct me if Im wrong.

It's really not a limited slip. It's either engaged or not and there are not clutches; it's all mechanical. But I don't know that it's technically a "locker".

If you ever have one tire break loose and spin and not the other, such as when turning a corner or in water, it's a torsen (or an auburn with totally shot clutches). If both always spin no matter the circumstances, it's an auburn.

^^^^^yeah my auburn never unlocks you would think it was an old detroit locker or somthing......
to the op place a jack under the rear were both tires are off the ground put the car in gear....if you can spin either wheel you have a torsen....if you cant its an auburn....

YES, this is what they came from the factory with, as well as some of the early build dated '99s (I believe). I always thought that ALL of the '99s still had the Auburn (until others on here told me otherwise), since I remember the "new and improved" page of the dealer's catalog for the 2000s listed the Torsen starting with that year (when I bought mine new).

I always thought Torsens are superior. I dunno how your torsen spun only one wheel, the worm gears must have been broken or something.
