Here is a NICE unit that is being shipped out, the customer had us assemble it before he recived it. Some nice Willwood Drag brakes to compliment this mighty sexy rear end.

Specs are;
M9 with LCA relocation brackets , BMR Xtreme Sway brackets welded on.
Full Red Powdercoat
Fill + Drain plug
Full Spool
Billet pinion yoke
Aluminum Center Section - Powdercoated as well!
Moser Extreme 40 spline gun drilled axles star flanged!
5/8's wheel studs

This thing is a BEAST, im going to weigh it out before it gets shipped.

I weighed it out today, and with no fluid it is 198# . I have a car here for a regular 9" so i will compare it.

EDIT;

This is SANS TQ arm and X member, i decided to do it this way to be fair against the one im doing monday, just a standard 9" , im going to inc the TQ arm bracket with that one as it is necessary to bolt it on.

Was that with the torque arm and crossmember? Bob

Considering you may drive it a total of 5miles on the street

I don't see a problem with gun drilled and star flanged on the street. Gun drilled axles are plenty stout. Bob

Moser M9 above, assembled with Wilwood brakes/calipers minus the torque arm and tranny crossmember = 198 lbs

Stock 10 bolt with stock brakes and stock calipers = 198lbs, believe it or not. We just weighed one!

Keep in mind the Wilwood brakes are indeed lighter.

Next will come the weight of a Moser 9 inch. Bob

On the one you weighed, I see it has an aluminum center section. Is the ring gear lightened and how much did the aluminum center section save over the nodular?

My Strange 12-bolt assembly is much lighter, but it should be given the axle size, tube size, etc. I am still interested in the M9 for gear interchangability (quicker, obviously) than with the Strange.

For those interested, the full width Strange 12-bolt in my car has the following weights, full:

+164.75 with no brakes but with H/D posi, ABS reluctor ring, 33-spline Strange axles, studs, & fluid
+21.75 (21.89, but lets round) for the rear Strange brakes (complete)
- 11 for gun-drilled, star-flanged Moser 33-spline axles with Ti studs
- 16 for lightened Strange steel spool (vs. posi w/ABS reluctor)
- 0.75 for lightened ring gear

Total: 137# wet but w/o Strange brakes, 158.75# wet with..

Once again, I am not throwing stones at the M9 or any Moser rear part. Strange would not touch the 33-spline gun-drilled axle where Moser did and I got them in 2 days...hundreds of sub 1.4 launches with no breakage...twisted the splines some, but no breakage (yet).

Now that I am up near 700 hp and looking to go up, the 33-spline gun-drilled are getting me a bit worried, and for the money, I am not interested in the KTRE / Mark Williams 12-bolt with 35-spline axles. Take care. Dave

The ring gear is not lightened, and the alum center saves 14 pounds.
Your Strange rear is much lighter than the 198 pounds Jake measured here on the 10 bolt complete with brakes. Bob

Yes...my stock rear complete with brakes, according to my notes, weighed 200.75#. Since that was so close to your weights, I did not put it up originally. The stock brake rotors, calipers, pads, backing plates, and hardware weighed in at just over 61#, so, the 10-bolt rear with 3-channel ABS / posi was quite light, but obviously limited in strength for ring & pinion and axles.

On the M9, can you weld on a customer-provided set of wheelie bars at a customer-provided location, THEN powdercoat accordingly, the whole assembly?

Thanks. Dave

I don't see the wheelie bar mounts as a problem for Moser. Tim at Moser is very accomodating. Bob

Damn that's a sweet *** rear end. That's the 1st time I got to see it and I'm sold on it. Do you have any install pics of the rear Bob? I'm curious about the torque arm that comes w/ it and the cross brace at ground level.

It was actually pretty nice for a change putting one together with aftermarket parts and not tearing a dead 10bolt apart

Enjoy the new rear
