How long did you have that rear in there? It seems odd for it to let loose on street tires.

It was a 33 spline. It now has a spool, but after 3 runs is already leaking and noisey.
Time for a 9 inch cause this is the 3rd time I have broke it

Moser packages some cheap **** with their rear ends sometimes. One of the wheel bearings split when the shop pressed it on. The studs are junk. I wouldnt run the stock moser studs for five miles. Mine all snapped off after about 120 highway miles. The same happened to another guy around here on his 12 bolt. We both have ARP's now, no problems.

1BadAir, that looks like your posi stuff. You cant blame the 12 bolt for that, blame the differential.

He said he had 33 spline axles and diff... that is crazy for that level of power to blow up a 12 bolt. Wow first i've seen.

I can't speak on whether Moser has good stuff or not, but I do know that I've seen some stout engines backed up by 12-bolt rears - and they lived! It could have to do with whether or not it was properly set up, poor quality parts or a combination. Who knows? But I'm with you in not blaming the 12-bolt. To me, the weak point in the 12-bolt is the C-clips. Yeah, there are C-clip eliminator kits, but...

mine doesn't have c-clips.
Is that the pinion bearing? I broke one too before I put the solid spacer in. I crushed the crush sleeve launching the car once and broke the pinion bearing. Even with the solid spacer the gear pattern and backlash moves after a few launches

So I take it that you guys have the C-clip eliminators. I've "heard" mixed reviews on 'em. Weren't they supposed to be for the track and not for use on the street. At least that's what I had understood at one time.

Is your vehicle a 6spd car?

The 6spd cars have a HUGE issue with the 12bolt, we only reccomend 12bolts for autos, and even then its not really much more to get a kick *** 9" setup.

The issue with the 6spds is the shock from the clutch dump will cause housing flex via tq arm. Seen it time and time again, starts out quiet as can be, then noisy. They normally do not fail, just become loud.

COMPLETE MOSER 12 BOLT
Moser Engineering offers the best aftermarket 12 Bolt on the market. Our 12 Bolt housings are newly cast nodular iron housing units that are direct replacements for most leaf-spring, coil-spring, and torque arm General Motors OEM applications. The extremely durable housing units have giant caps utilizing half inch Allen bolts, and include perches or brackets. You have a choice of axles with pressed on ball bearings, or OEM style c-clip with c-clip retention. The units can be set up for anti-lock brakes and work with many OEM GM brake setups. Utilizing new housing ends adds to the simplicity and ease of installation, which is unparalleled in the industry. The complete package includes a Moser 12 Bolt housing, Custom Alloy Axles with ball bearings, studs and retainer plates. Also includes either a Moser full spool or a posi unit, Pro Street gears, 1350 series pinion yoke, chrome cover, and assembly. Brakes are not included. When ordering with a Moser full spool or a posi unit, you have the option of 30 spline axles or upgrade to our 33 spline axles, which carry a 10 year replacement warranty. However, if you are ordering the package with c-clip axles you can only order 30 spline axles. TWO-DAY TURNAROUND ON ALL ORDERS!

This is from Mosers website, and the only ones I sell do not use c clips. Bob
