Default Moser 12 = Blowed up = Bummer = Pics

this morning around 5:30am I was on my way home from work, I go through the Benicia bridge tolls make make a hard 1st - 2nd holeshot up into 3rd then just cruised.
I get up over the bridge, shift into 6th set the cruise at 87 and go for a few miles... outta nowhere... it clunks and then feels like I put the brakes on... BUT I DIDNT...

now i hear metal to metal and it feels like hell, loose and clunky...
I slow to around 25 mph and go another 1/4 mile up the road to the offramp to get off the highway in the middle of nowhere...

in the one pic you can see the gear oil pouring out of the pinion seal like a hose this leads me to believe the pinion bearing took a ****. I still goes forward farely easy but reverse feels like your tryin to drive on sqare rims...

no point to the thread just bummed, I was having fun drivin the T/A everyday... guess its time to point the ten bolt back in a sell it...lol

You can pull it apart yourself, its really not hard to do. Thats too bad that happened, it sucks when **** breaks. Hopefully its just the bearing which is pretty simple to fix. Takes about 15 minutes to get to the bearing to see if its busted.

Looks like stock 30 spline internals on that Eaton. If you upgrade to the 33 spline you get a much stronger material and it is the old school cut gears instead of the cast gears like Eaton uses. Also, get rid of those carbon clutches and go with the 18 pack steels. You get a little chatter around corners but they will hook way better.
