I must have mistaken the results from a late 90s 4.6 GT rated at 260 or 265hp. It looks like 305hp-rated 4th gen Cobras are putting down ~260rwhp.

Sounds more like the truth . Here is a example from MMFF mag. A '99 Gt rated @ 260 h.p. 302 lb-ft dynoed 231.5 h.p @4800 rpm 280 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm with nothing more than a K&N filter . That translates roughly to 273 hp and 330 lb-ft not too over rated IMO. I will agree with you that the '96-'98 GT's was lacking @215-225 hp / 285-290 lb-ft. A '96 example was tested with a K&N/ high flow X-pipe made a best run of 186.2 hp@4200 rpm and 260 lb-ft@ 3500 rpm translating roughly to 219.7 h.p. and 306.8 lb ft. even minus 12 h.p from the mod's it's still not over-rated. All from MMFF magazine testing on a Dyno-Jet at Crazy Horse Racing.

I'll trust your numbers for the time being, but coming from MMFF it's somewhat biased

And finally, we all know how those numbers translate at the track. Poor Mustangs.

Now I have to jump in my F-150 and drive home. See, i'm not a Ford hater!

I guess when GMHP/MMFF magazine's tested on the same day with a Mach 1 vs GTO the GMHP crew was rooting for the Ford too ??(JK) You seem to be willing to accept facts not just biased opinions.

Theres always haters and bench racers on both sides. Some people just hate for the simple fact they can't accept competition. I hope the new 5L makes it in new mustangs, cause then it really be a horsepower war.

Looks like the '10 Mustang GT has become little quicker even with Motor Trend testing: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ior_specs.html

Those skidpad #s are hard to swallow, .95Gs?? Ford should have just left out the updates until they put a different power plant in it, (not till next year ). People are dumb though, this new iteration of the Mustang will somehow sell like hotcakes.

I do however like the direction they are heading in, the interior seems really refined and exterior is less bulky / retro and more aggressive. I think next year we will finally see a Mustang GT that enthusiasts will be satisfied with. Until then, sssesh what a ripoff.

IMO. The '10 Mustang GT is a start in the right direction even though i want equal power to the Camaro SS / Challenger SRT. The 0-60 mph are greatly improved and the dragpacks 3.73 gears should be standard . I have a question to members in other states ( How many Challengers have you seen on the road currently ?????) My best bud and i (Currently living in Texas) mentioned he has only seen two, both while driving I-20 W from Georgia to Texas. I hope they are selling because i've only seen a total of 4 ( 1 in Fla. 3 in Georgia).

It probably won't. They've got to keep the GT500 performance and handling just behind the GT500KR. Thus, the GT will be kept behind the GT500 and so on.

Outside of my sub-division there is a V-6 black challenger and i've seen a orange w/ black stripes R/T but that's it around my way. I live near Summitt racing and figured i had more of a chance seeing them . (IE) Purchasing performance parts etc.

To have an epic thread on tech you have to have the #1 troll. Only thing better would be if 25psi was still here.

****, might be worth buying a new camaro since it will be safer then my trans am, my buddy was driving passenger in his gf's mazda 6 and got T-boned by a Dodge Ram that was speeding just today...... changed my outlook on a few things considering i plan to play alot this spring with my car.
