the 2010 Camaro is still impressive. If GM ever produces the Z/28, it will take the GT500.

I think its impressive that its only a .1 difference. With the title of the video, I thought it was going to be more than a second difference. For the price difference Id rather pump up the LS3 than already have a motor thats been pushed close to its limits.

I've watched this video and read the article in the magazine and IMHO the results are not going to be the norm. Before anyone takes offense let me explain my point. We all know by now that the GT500 has ran quicker times in worst conditions and the commentator was pissed @ Ford fans for unflattering responses on their forums. I agree that he made some valid points in the beginning of the video , but being a professional he should grow thicker skin. On this day at that moment maybe the GT500 as well as the SS ran that time , but after owners ( driver mod) have their experiences with the cars the times will improve.

I think that is a good representation of what to expect in a street race. On a track, the GT500 will be faster and probably pull ahead sooner. Then again we haven't seen the best times out of the camaro yet. For the price difference, it is defnitely closer than the Ford boys want it to be.

No doubt the GT500 will be faster than the SS - it's 16 grand more expensive for a bast GT500 than a base SS! Heads, cam, and headers for about 4,500 (probably a lot less :p) and the SS is fighting with the GT500. As the presenter noted, the SS isn't positioned in terms of price to compete with the GT500. Ford fanboys were just angry that Ford couldn't pit the GT against the SS.

Give the 2010 SS camaro the same amount of boost and see who wins lol or just swap the cam lol. Even better drop the $16k in the SS Camaro and that would be funny.

whats funny is.. The 2010 SS with the intake and tune on camaro5 would beat the GT500 worse than the gt500 beat this SS..

I've always loved the arguement well let me put the price difference into my car and see who is faster. Hell take a gt500 and drop 20grand in it and see it walk all over a z06. Also drop top bird the gt500 motor is no where close to being maxed out.

Headers,Air intake and a tune and the SS is just as fast or faster than the GT500.

i love both cars, camaro definately looks meaner.. but the two cars are in two different leagues. the gt500 just needs a pulley/tune/drag radials and its a low 11sec sleeper. the camaro needs cam/fullexhaust/intake/dragradials/dynotune to stay up with that and people are going to hear you driving up from a mile away in the camaro.

Stock for stock, the GT500 is a better car in every measurable way. I was just pointing out that it's a lot more expensive, and as such, it isn't a fair comparison.

Except the engine. Small detail.

I have seen several 600+ RWHP GT500's around that seem almost stock. GM should have definitely planned on an LS9 Camaro. Hopefully some day because it will be difficult to compete with the purpose built forced induction engine in the Ford.

I think a fair comparison will be the 2011 gt with the new 400hp motor. However it will still be a few grand less than the camaro.

I dont see how you think its still going to be less expensive than the camaro. A Premium GT with Track Pack lists at 35k. You think that a new 5.0 motor want push that price near 40k? Granted, its worth the price, but dont think the mustang is going to be less than the Camaro with the new engine.
