the new gt500 weighs in more than 4000 pounds

and the car is not 500 hp from what i heared, I think they reduced it to 475, still not bad, but if we can get anywere near that much in our camaros, with a liter body, you can kiss that gt500 gone.

Challenger IF-it's anywhere close to the concept. I love the looks and the big body style.

Not trying to be a ******** or anything b/c i love camaros but listen to what you just wrote........... I'm guessing that the camaro did get outdone by a competitor "Mustang" since they discontinued it? And no one here is not being loyal to the camaro if they pick a GT500 or challenger, I mean these cars are actually being or going to be produced. The camaro is still in concept form. And I would much rather them pick one of those rather than a freaking prelude or summin Its just luv for american muscle thats all

If they keep the weight down...I'd take a black LS2 or LS7 with a removable targa top.

However the LS7 is not going to make it into a Camaro and the removable top option doesn't look likely by judging from the pics. If the weight gets to be about the same as a challenger or gt500 they can forget about it.

I agree w/2001LS1Z...that new Challenger concept looks very similar to the old style! Such a muscle car! If the price is right, that car will have the higest ratio of mullets/rednecks than any other car since the 1970's!!!!

i like the looks of the camaro alot better then the dodge or the ford. although i have seen better looking "camaro concept" drawlings i would of liked to of seen alot more. i still like it. i couldnt see chevy putting the ls7 in the camaro if dodge and ford werent making similar hp numbers but they are. so i say they would be very dumb not to install the ls7 in some.. the gt500 is going to cost an arm and a leg but the ls7 soposedly would be alil cheaper both cars being over 45k acourding to motor trend, dodge has always been a rip off, atleast around here. and as for the dodge hemi's being so great i got a 300c. its a royal turd if you ask me 13k babied miles and already having engine troubles+ harder to start then my trusty ls1 not to mention slower for the same displacement, also handles like **** when you go over 120 or punch the gas( and no not from spinning tires)+seats suck for me. parents like them but i like my camaro seats or either of my sisters nissan's seats alot better imho. i guess im gonna not ever like dodge... i never really liked anything they made short of the viper but im too tall to fit in that car , and corvette does it better.. if chevy wasnt around id probly have a terminator and a fox body instead of an 00 and an 84 camaro. and if ford or chevy wasnt around id go import. acourding to motor trend, the heavist camaro(ls7powered) soposed to weigh 3600lbs 3.5k for the z and 3.4 for the v6. and those who say the camaro is still a concept ... idk the production of them has been " confirmed" acourding to all the magazines i read. i voted ls7 but id still take an ls2 over challenger any day or the gt500 being for the price you could make the ls2 faster then the ls7, gt500, or anything dodge is going to offer for the $. gt500 would be my choice if the camaro wasnt in this poll. if the new camaro isnt produced or too $. ill just continue to make my current camaros better/faster, wont be too hard to make my current cars faster then gt500 or a challenger.. i respect the dodges and fords ill just never own either as long as chevy continues to impress me + in buisness. the endless aftermarket with ls based engines is also a very strong point for me. i guess im alil brand loyal, but ive been given no reason not to like chevy where as dodge -where to start. and ford are only second best in my book.

none, I'll be looking at a handful of cars coming out of college, all used-

E46 M3
E39 M5
LS1 Trans Am (again)
C5 FRC
C5 Z06
C6
LS2 GTO
and maybe even a 350Z

But the only ones that I would likely leave near stock are the M cars. Those seem like my options for now, I wouldn't be disappointed with a damned one of them, but I won't be getting another car for 4 years.. so my plans might change.

people aren't gonna like this answer, but i'd like to see a DOHC V8 camaro with rear wheel drive IRS. i like the idea of having 2 powerbands. have a weak powerband down low for great gas mileage and streetability, then over 4000rpm's have *****-to-the-wall performance.

imagine, a camaro that could rev to 9 grand saftely with stock internals and 10 - 11 grand with a built bottom end do you have ANY idea how LOUD that would be? we'd be giving passer-by's heart attacks!

Any guy on a website called LS1tech should be kicked off the site for picking the Ford or Dodge. Especially over the ls7. The ls7 crate motor costs about 7k more then an ls2. If a fully loaded Camaro is going to be about 30. Lets say 37k for and LS7. That would be cheaper then the Cobra, GT500 and the high end challenger for sure. When has gm ever let Ford push them around on the play ground. Have some faith guys.

Id have to disagree with you....... I think a Ls7 package would be flirting with the price of a shelby. I have blue in my veins so I would go with the Shelby but if I had to choose b/w the challenger or camaro it would be the challenger hands down. It looks way better than the camaro in my opinion. The camaro looks good accept for the front end in my opinion. The top line ls7 package or the top line challenger will all be around the same price range. Then you have mark ups by the sales jerks. When you start talking about spending up in the high 30's low 40's whoever is spending that much money will deffinetly get what they want. they are not gonna pass up their dream car just b/c an Ls7 camaro is 2 grand less.

Challenger is the better looking....period.....
I love GM, never owned Ford or Chrysler BEFORE....
I love the LS7...BUT the crate 392 hemi is MORE POWERFUL...
If they put that nasty *** 392 in the challenger...no contest at all...Challenger all the way.

Hmm... should we ask Dr. Z about this one?

"Dear Dr. Z,
Do you think the new Challenger is going to get pwn3d by the new Camaro?"

Keep in mind those GT500s will most likely respond very well to mods like the 03-04 cobras. Pulley, intake, exhaust, and 600s will be hit...

Although a cammed LS7 is also ridiculous... It doesn't even have to be an LS7. Just have GM use those sick heads on their newest production block and poor mans LS7 is created... Yeah, it's not an LS7, but who cares if it approaches the same power level, yet saves thousands and thousands of dollars?

I think it would be much more realistic to have a 450 hp Z/28 6.4 liter with a horribly designed air intake, and a potato in the exhaust pipe (for modding purposes). Then on top of that offer a ZL1 with an LS7 to go eat snakes and billy goats. I'm sure GM loathes the idea of mass producing LS7s on such a large scale.

Quick Reply: New Camaro, New Challenger, GT500?!?!?!
