The KR has like 540hp. The regular GT500 has 500. Although, there is a special package you can get from Shelby for normal GT500's to make them resemble the KR. And you can get up to the 700hp range depending on package. But, Chevy isn't going to worry about a special package that not many people are gonna have. And the KR is VERY limited edition only like 1000 vehicles. The top of the line Camaro isn't going to be that limited. I dunno why everyone thinks the Camaro needs more than 500 hp. The GT500 isn't THAT fast considering it has 500 hp.

The Super Snake has 700, but it is going to be a very exclusive club of people that own those. I do think it looks the best of all the newer mustangs. It will be much less expensive to make your Camaro faster though.

Real men drive Camaro's. End of story. When I see a Mustang put down as much bang-for-buck as a Camaro, I'll convert. Maybe. Anyways, my point is. Spend 3000$ on your new Camaro, for say, Longtubes, an Off-road X pipe, a tuner, cold air intake, performance plugs, and a ported intake, and you'll see an increase of somewhere around 60rwhp. As to when I did that with my Mustang, It went from a piddly 268 rwhp to a dead even 305.

Your point is either based on the older 2valve or assumption because with just Intake, Tune and full exhaust
my 3 valve went from 300 bhp to 390bhp (330rwhp) (270rwhp before mods except a K&N CAI) with a stock Motor and auto tranny I run 12.41 @109.35
thats a 2005 Mustang GT street trim with DR's race weight 3700# all bolt ons.

motor parts:
JBA Long Tube Headers and Catted H pipe - 750
CAI and Tune with SCT tuner and 93 tune - 500
Charge motion Delete plates from Steeda - 100
Under drive pulleys from steeda - 150
Used FRPP GTA Mufflers - 100
total - 1600.00

Drivetrain parts:
Sypder Aluminum Driveshaft - 480
FRPP 4.10 Gears installed - 400
CHE Lower Control Arms - 120
total - 1000.00

BFG 275/40 17 Drag Radials purchased on craigs list for 35.00
Mounted on stock GT 17" rims free

grand total - 2635.00
thats 60 rwhp gain and and 1.4 sec off my 1/4 mile time for under 3000 bucks in mods. and I still paid under 30K
thats pretty good bang for the buck I would say...

LOL, real men. Again, the Mustang GT is going to have 400hp soon after the Camaro comes out, still don't know why people continue to ignore that fact and want to compare a FUTURE car to a CURRENT one.

And 2k05gt, he allegedly did have an 05 GT. However, IIRC, he also said that it's slower than his Impala SS. I know my SS surely isn't faster than a new GT.

At any rate, I can't wait til Chevy actually confirms the engine options and trim levels. All this speculation is killing me.

where's the option for the blower, in all likely-hood it will probably see some variant of the '09 CTS-V's engine.

Kenne Bell makes some cool stuff. I just had another idea. You could buy a Mustang GT, put an '03 style iron block from Ford Motorsports and one of these supercharger kits in it for under 40K total and kick the crap out of the 80 thousand dollar Super Snake.

In the new camaro you will see turbo 4, turbo six, and the ls3 plus the ls7 as an option slightly detuned as to not beat the zo6 and the lsa which is caddy's version of the ls9 that is in the zr1 which they are putting in the cts-v the 6 will have 300 horse the ls3 will have around 430 and the lsa will be around 575 or so the ls7 would be around 490 or so but the ls7 version is just my opinion. the lsa and ls3 have already been confirmed by gm.

I'm guessing LS3 or the new Gen V engines for the Camaro.

You will not see the LS7 in the Camaro..it is an expensive engine and they have a hard enough time building enough of them for the Z06 production..it will be phased out in the next couple of years...plus GM doesn't want to **** in all the Z06 owners corn flakes by offering that engine in the new 5th gen.

to each his own, I am not a ford guy, but I do like the New Mustang, (It's My First Ford) there was no other car to compete with since the camaro was canceled on 02 and I never liked the look of the 4th Gen camaro so I did not want one of them. I did look at the Charger but I did not need a 4 door boat, the GTO was an option but again I did not like the Euro bean look. I love the retro style of the new Mustang, so I bought it. but thats just me I buy what I like not what brand it is, I could care less if a car is a chevy or ford.

The LSx Engine are some of chevys best granted and I don't claim that the mustang is better or worse than a 4gen Fbod. but what even though the Camaro has always been a bit faster than the mustang and has had a little more HP, the 4.6 has held it's own.

4.6 2v = 280 hp
4.6 3v = 300 hp
4.6 4v = 320 hp

LT1 5.7 = between 260 - 300 hp
LS1 5.7 = between 305 - 350 hp

My point behind list list is that even though the 4.6 is lacking 1.1L it's not that far behind in HP.
Now when Modding come in the Larger displacement will always have the advantage and will out perform the smaller engine period. Until the smaller one gets forced induction, then the displacement can be a disadvantage.

If Ford does not put the 5.0 or 5.4 in the next mustang then the 6.0L Camaro with the GenV engines will out power and out class the Mustang 2 to 1 easy.
I don't see the LS3 in the Camaro though, Lutz has stated several times that the new camaro will have Active fuel management and the only new GM engine that has this is the L76. even so the L76 is an outstanding engine. I friend has the G8 GT and he went from 361hp to 402 with just a intake and tune..... outstanding
